The bright light dissipated and the world around Eva unfroze. Men and Draki looked all around, their confusion clear. Soldiers and Generals of Esos and Estoria dropped their weapons falling to their knees. Many approached Eva and knelt, begging for her forgiveness in the part they had played in this war.
Henry appeared next before Eva. His eyes were clear and he appeared to be of sound mind and sincere, "Eva. You cured us."
Eva grabbed her sword and swung it about to face Henry, "Stay back." Eva hoped by blocking Henry from proceeding any further toward her or Daeron she did not have to cut his head from his body.
Draki soldiers came forward and grabbed Henry by the arms and chained him in irons as Henry struggled yelling to her, "Eva, it was the spell. I promise! Please you have to believe me."
Ignoring him Eva motioned to the Draki guards, "He is Karon's brother. Keep him guarded and chained until we can find out what's going on." Eva turned and felt Daeron's chest which was rising and falling in soft breaths. His cheeks were warmer too. "Thank the gods."
Henry's voice rose above the rest, "Eva behind you!"
Standing Eva turned to see a feeble old woman standing over the body of Karon. Her lips curled into a sneer as she looked up at Eva. The woman's eyes had gone completely black.
The woman screeched, "What have you done! He's dead! You stupid girl! Give me that sword! You do not deserve its power!"
Eva trembled as she felt a surge of power dragging her closer and closer to the woman. Digging her heels into the dirt Eva tried to pull back against the force. Men rushed forward to stop and help her but they were all thrown back by the Seers' invisible power.
Eva sensed Lara's voice in her head, Trust in the sword.
Eva looked down at the sword trembling in her hand and back at the woman. Slicing the sword through the air in front of her, a shroud of light burst forth hitting the woman in the chest, knocking her to the ground.
The old woman gave a cry of pain and the pull Eva felt dissipated. Holding the sword up once more Eva looked the woman dead in the eye, "You'll have to kill me to get this sword and even then it will never truly be yours."
"Foolish girl." In a blink, the woman was before Eva, a dagger in her hand slicing it in mid-air towards Eva's sword bearing arm.
As Eva moved her sword to counteract the blow from the Seer another figure appeared in a cloud of dark smoke. A black dagger thrust out and sliced the old woman's hand clean off, her hand dropping to the ground with a thud.
Screeching in agony the old woman fell to the ground snarling and looking to the source of her pain. Mara rose from the dark smoke with the blood soaked, black dagger in her hand and moved to stand in front of Eva.
Mara grinned at the old woman, "Try it again. I dare you."
Still screeching the woman vanished only to reappear next to the guards holding Henry.
Pushing the guards away with a burst of power the woman cackled as she grabbed Henry's arm. Henry struggled in his chains, "If I can't have Karon, than half his blood shall do. Mark my words, Draki Queen, this isn't the last you will see of me."
Eva cried out for men to stop the witch.
Running forward Mara threw the black dagger at the old woman only to have she and Henry vanish from the field. The dagger instead was caught up in a tan hand emerging from a cloud of darkness, before it could hit a soldier standing nearby. The man covered in dark cloth appeared.
