Prologue:
The cold Henna ink tickled my skin as Cody carefully traced over the stencil. The little elephant was filled with classical Henna designs. It was cute yet elegant. The navy blue ink stood out on my pale skin. I grinned at Cody, pleased with the outcome.
“What do you think?” he asked not only me, but our two bystanders as well.
“Perfect!” I told him. Kara and Drake both agreed that it was gorgeous.
Cody was always the artistically talented one of our group. We each brought something to our group. Kara was the book smart one. Then Drake and I were sort of the leaders of the group, we made sure that we hung out at least once a week. Drake and I were a lot alike, even down to who we like.
“So what now?” Drake asks, leaning back on the couch.
“We could go roll someones house,” Kara suggests.
“Or we could do a séance,” Cody says.
I raised an eyebrow at him. “How the hell do you know how to do that shit?”
He shrugs. “My grandmother was big into that stuff. I grew up watching her perform them.”
“That makes you part witch,” Kara points out.
“I guess you can say that,” he said. “Are you guys in?”
“Let's do it.” I say.
We grab everything that we would need. Four candles, salt that wasn't ground down to a fine grain, and the ouija board. He had figured that the board would be easiest seeing as it was the first time for the rest of us. We sat boy-girl around the circle. Drake, who had grown up Catholic, was shaking a bit. His pastor used to tell him stories about messing with ouija boards. Usually those stories ended with an exorcism.
Cody lowered the lights until it was dim in the room. The curtains had been drawn, hiding the nighttime view from the windows.
“Okay, take three pieces of salt and place it to your left.” Cody says, taking out his three pieces. We did this until I handed it back to him, seeing as how I was at the end of the circle. “Next I am going to pass around the match, you are to light your candle until it gets back to me.”
This was the tricky part. The candles didn't want to light. We ended up using multiple matches instead of the one we were supposed to stick with. After a few laughs and several matches later, we had managed to make a circle around us with the candles.
“I want you all to put two fingers on the stone. We are going to go around three times. No matter what happens do not break the circle. Understood?”
“What happens if we break the circle?” Kara asks.
“Then whatever it is has the chance of breaking free. Nothing bad will happen though. If something dangerous does manage to get through, I'll close the circle before things can escalate.” Drake assures us. “Since everything is settled, let's begin.”
We all put two fingers. Gently we glided it three times around the board.
“Is anyone there that wishes to speak with us?” Cody asks.
Silence fills the room. It took a few seconds before our hands glided towards 'Yes'.
“Any of you are now free to ask questions.” Cody tells us.
“How old are you?” Drake asks.
The stone glides towards look.
“Look where?” I ask.
'Now' it replies.
We glance around, seeing nothing to really look at. A few of the mirrors in the room only showed our reflections. With a shrug, we continued on with our questions.
“Do we know you?” was Kara's question. This received a no.
A few questions were asked. Every once in a while we would continue to get a 'look'. As creepy as that was, we continued on.
“How did you die?” Drake asks.
I turned to him. “Really, Drake? You can't ask a ghost that. It's rude.”
He shrugs. “I'm just curious.”
The stone goes around to 'look'. Hitting yet another dead end, we ask 'What is your name?' Surely something like that would get an interesting answer. Right?
We move over to 'Y'. An 'E' is the next. 'N-I-N' was the last bit. We wait for a few minutes to see if there was anything else. After feeling nothing, we move it back to the center.
“What the hell is Yenin?” I ask.
Drake starts to tear up. “We've contacted a demon.”
“There is no demon called Yenin,” Kara rolls her eyes.
“It was in Greek mythology or something.” he argues.
Cody pulls out his phone looking it up. “The only Yenin thing on here is the Yenin crystals. Nothing demonic whatsoever.”
We went to get back to the board when the stone started to move on it's own. Around and around it went. Neither of us was touching it.
“Close the damn circle,” I ordered Cody suddenly feel something creep up my spine. I could feel it encircling around me. It was getting hard to breath.
Suddenly the feeling stopped. The candles went out leaving us almost in complete darkness. Smoke started to fill the room. It wasn't thick like it would have been if there had been a fire. Instead it was more like a fog.
“What's happening?” I ask the others.
There was no answer.
A flash of lightening blinded us. Several screams broke the once silent room. Now standing in front of us was a tall dark haired man. His dark eyes glared down at us, as if he was peering into our souls.
“Who dares contact me?”
