Silas Ronan. A name was quickly put to his face and I rolled my eyes at the number of conversations I had already overhead pertaining to him and every last detail about his life that had been found out so far.
While yes, he was easy on the eyes, I didn't understand what was so special about him and why all of the girls were in a tiff about it.
"He's totally mine...no doubt about it, honey," I overhead Marina—class-A bitchy snob—drooling to her fellow fake, spoiled brat friend at the desks in front of mine. I tried to hold in my scoff but failed miserably.
She whipped her head around so fast I thought it might fall off. "If you have something to say, Lorelei, just say it."
"Weren't you just going for Levi, like, last week?" I asked, an amused look on my face.
She looked stunned for a second, but recovered quickly, "Well, there's new real estate now."
"Congratulations, we all know Levi never would've gone for you anyways," I chuckled.
She gasped, "YOU BITC—"
"Settle down class!" Mrs. Juniper interrupted Marina, making me laugh harder. "That's enough, girls," she came again. I gave Marina a sarcastic smile and she scowled and turned away from me.
The english class went by quickly and soon I was making my way towards my second period, scanning the hall for Iris, who had the same teacher as me. I spotted her and we started walking down the hall beside each other, nearing our classroom.
"So, his name is Silas," she said, her eyes twinkling.
"Seriously, Iris?"
"What!"
"If I hear one more person mention this gu—"
As we turned into the doorway, I was cut off sharply when I saw him, in the flesh, sitting in the back row of the classroom, looking up at us with an expressionless face. He seemed disinterested and went back to what he was working on prior to us interrupting him.
Iris and I shuffled awkwardly to our desks, and she whispered, "Do you think he heard that?"
"I don't know...and frankly, I don't care," I replied.
We chatted for a few minutes before a boring math class ensued. Iris kept stealing glances at Silas, and every time she did, I would lightly whack her upside the head, earning a glare from the teacher and a curious look from him.
As we were heading out of the classroom, I felt a light tap on my shoulder and turned. Deep copper eyes stared back at me and I raised an eyebrow, "Yes?"
He looked down at the crumpled schedule in his hands, "Can you show me where Room 208 is?" he said in a deep voice that almost startled me.
"It's down this hall, past the cafeteria."
"Could you show me?... I don't really know my way around."
I suppressed an eye roll and started to reply, "I'm sure there are a load of other girls just dyin—"
"Of course we will!" Iris interrupted, "Let's go." She grabbed my elbow and steered me out the door, Silas trailing close behind.
Soon he fell into step with us and Iris said nonchalantly, "I'm Iris."
"I'm Silas," he responded, nodding his head slightly. Yeah, like we didn't know.
I sighed. "Lorelei."
Iris gave me a side glance, "Well, welcome to Alistair, Silas."
"Also know as Hell," I winked. He smirked—I guess that's as close to a smile as we would get.
"This is where you get off," I said as we approached Room 208.
"Thank you, Lorelei...Iris," he said, nodding at each of us.
He strode into his photography class and Iris said, still watching him, "Well, that was interesting." I shrugged and we began our trek back to the other side of Alistair.
Our next few classes went by fairly ordinarily and soon the gang I were spread around a table outside, eating our lunch. "Hey Levi, guess what?...Marina's already moved on to her next victim," I giggled, shoving a rice roller in my mouth.
"Good riddance!" he exclaimed, throwing his hands up in the air.
"Thank god," Beck chimed in, "If I had to hear that nasally voice one more time..." He took a bite of his sandwich and shook his head.
"Who's the new prey anyways?" Levi questioned.
"Silas!" Cassia squealed and I punched her in the arm.
"Oh that new guy?" Levi asked.
"The one and only," I smiled sarcastically.
"Oh, don't you act like you don't like him, Lorelei!" Iris practically shouted.
"I'm not acting!" I laughed, "Yeah, he's the mysterious new guy, so what? I just don't understand all the hype." I shrugged.
"Me neither," Remi added, sitting on his skateboard on the ground next me.
"Whatever," Iris said, rolling her eyes.
As I made my way towards my next class, I listened to passing conversations and had to restrain the urge multiple times to yell, "Shut the hell up!" at all the girls still conversing about Silas and who he would end up with.
This was old news now, ladies—move on for God's sake.
Lord, could I get one minute of Silas-less peace? And as I walked into the classroom, for the second time that I day, I saw a head of dirty blonde hair bent over a desk in the back row. I groaned. I guess not.
