AVT 7 - Past

Idinilat ko ang aking mga mata mula sa pagkatulog. Madilim pa rin at malamig ang paligid. I looked at my digital clock na katabi ko lamang. It's 7:29 in the evening. Sa oras ng mga bampira ay ito ang kanilang umaga.. Maaga pa.

Lumabas ako ng aking silid. Naroroon si Daniel, nakaupo sa sala set. Lagi siyang maagang nagigising, nakakapagtaka. He's always late matulog. Bampirang walang tulog? 

I walked pass by him at hindi niya ako pinansin. Dumiretso ako sa maliit na kusina. Binuksan ang refrigerator. Pagkakuha ko ng gatas ay nilingon ko siya dahil tinawag niya ang aking pangalan.

"Kath, halika dito." monotonous tone. His eyes never left the television. 

I finished my milk and asked, "Why?"

Aking ibinalik ang gatas sa loob ng ref. Inilagay sa lababo ang basong ginamit pagkatapos ay sumandal ako sa counter.

"Basta.", his very simple answer. Arrogant! Jerk!

"Is it so important para lang lumapit pa ako sa'yo when you can just say right infront of me.", nagtaas ako ng isang kilay. 

Bumalot muli ang katahimikan sa amin. I gave him some few more seconds bago tuluyang maglakad pabalik sa aking silid. Pipihitin ko na sana ang doorknob ko ng nagsalita muli siya.

"Kathryn, Go get dressed. I'll take you to the hideout. I can't leave you alone here lalo't natutulog ka pa. I am scared something might happen to you.." I frozed.

What is it with me at gusto niya akong protektahan? Ano bang meron ako? Do I have a past that I haven't known yet? Tell me! 

Hinarap ko siya and suprisingly, he's looking at me. "Why do your kinds want to kill me? Hindi ko maintindihan! First, pinalipat ako dito. Wala akong makitang dahilan para ilipat ako dito.. I mean, maganda ang grades ko sa dati kong school but why here? Sa mundo ninyo! S-sa mundo ng bampira!"

"Calm down, Kath!" Bigla siyang napatayo at punung-puno ng pag-aalala. Here he goes with his weird reaction again. 

"Why are you so scared to lose me huh?" he licked his lower lip and didn't answer me. Damn! It's so awkward that I am looking at his lips! What the hell, Kathryn?!

"C'mon.. I don't want to argue. Just get dressed. This is for you.." Pinikit ko ang aking mga mata. Sumasakit ang aking ulo. 

I can hear loud voices from my surrounding. Tinakpan ko ang aking mga tainga. They are so loud and they're making my head hurt! "Child, you're a monster! You don't belong here!"

"Stop it! Please!" I cried so hard hearing those words. 

I came back from the reality when Daniel started shaking me. He is holding my shoulders. I immediately hugged him. "I'm not a monster.. I'm not." I cried to his chest.

I feel so weak in my dreams.. in my thoughts.. Hindi ko alam. What was that? 

"Nahihirapan na ako, Daniel. What am I?" I lifted my head up to his face. He's looking at me with a sad expression. They're hiding something.. "Let me know please.."

Daniel just calmed me down. He didn't speak. Ibinalik niya ako sa aking kama. "You need to sleep. Kapag gising ka na ay 'saka lamang tayo pupunta doon sa hideout." nawala na ang imahe ni Daniel ng isara niya ang pintuan ng aking silid.

My eyes betrayed me while thinking what happened earlier. I'm a monster? If not.. then why are they calling me names like that? 

I woke up around 9:01 PM. It's getting darker as I look from the window right beside me. Tumayo ako at sinilip si Daniel sa salas. I'm not surprised seeing his existence there. He immediately got up matapos makita ako. "Hey.." bati ko.
