I opened the door and stepped outside. The winter air was nipping at my shoulders. I saw Colton in his car with the window down. He waved his hand at me and said, "Come on man, let's go."

I slowly made my way to his vehicle and made my way to the passenger seat. Then I saw a face that looked sort of familar already sitting there. This must have been Trent. I completely forgot that he was going to be here. I stepped past him and got into the back seat. "What's up" I said. The words were nearly impossible for me to push out.

"Hey man" Colton said," Have you met Trent?" He pointed to him, while looking at me. Of course I haven't met Trent. I don't talk unless I absolutely have to or just really want to.

"No" I mumbled.

Trent turned around and reached for a hand shake then said, "Hey I'm Trent. I've seen you around school a couple times. Do you know who Jake Macky is?" He doesn't seem nervous at all.

"No" I mumbled again, then looked out the window. Colton had just started to drive the car down the street.

"Yeah, well he goes to our school and I buy weed from him all the time. We're going over there right now." Trent explained to me. I wanted to go back home so badly, but I knew it was far too late. I had to deal with this.

I watched cars drive by as we drove down the road. Colton and Trent started talking, but I wasn't paying attention to what they were saying. I really wanted to get high. That's all I could think about until my mind shifted over to Kimberly and the fight. Why did that have to happen? "Yeah man, Zach's a badass." I heard Colton say from the front seat. Dammit they were talking about me and I wasn't listening.

"Uh... yeah" I said. I wasn't sure what they were talking about. They both started laughing, so I smiled even though they weren't looking at me.

"Why'd you fight him anyways?" Trent asked me. Why did I fight him? He was pushing me. I had to fight him. He was being an asshole.

"Umm.. I.. don't kn.." I could barely speak when Colton interrupted me. Not that it matters I wasn't saying anything anyways.

"Corey fucking started it. He had to fight him. Besides Corey's a dickhead. He deserved to get his ass kicked." Colton said. Wow that basically summed it up.

They kept going on and on about random things I didn't really care about. I've never really hung out with people before. I'm not sure how they talk about things that have no meaning. How do they talk at all?

"Take a left up here" Trent told Colton.

"You got it" Colton replied. We turned into an apartment complex. I think we've reached our destination. Now the anxiety really began to swell within me. It started bubbling up through my stomach. I started tapping my fingers on my lap as I felt my entire body heat up. The car stopped.

"Who else is here besides Jake?" asked Colton.

"I'm not sure. His girlfriend Katie might be here or some of their friends." Trent aswered.

Oh no. Too many people. At school its different, much easier to blend in. But here I'm going to stick out like a sore thumb. Perfect analogy.

Colton shut off the car as Trent stepped out, then Colton stepped out as I sat alone in the back seat. My ears were ringing loudly. I saw them walk further away from me. I still sat in the back seat. My eyes started to blur. I couldn't focus on anything. My head tilted forward until it hit the back of the passenger seat. I closed my eyes. What was I doing?

I heard tapping on one of the windows. I turned my head to see what the sound was. I saw Colton looking in then he said, "Zach, come on" His hand moved back and forth. Suddenly, I felt a burst of energy run through my body and left the car almost instantly. "What were you doing?" Colton asked.
