I watched from afar as the guardians landed around the moonblinked bait. I was standing next to Kludd in my armor as he wore nothing.
Boron, who I learned is the leader of the guardians, gathered as many owlets as he could. But the bats had another idea.
The leather winged mammals opened up one of the traps, allowing the power of the flecks to show.
Allimere soon joined us with Metal Beak and Nyra as the guardians were shouting.
"Oh, Allomere. Is it different when you see the consequences of your betrayal?" Metal Beak asked the spy.
"Must it be bats that bleed them?" Allimere asked and I looked at him with narrowed eyes. "Of course." Metal Beak answered.
"They have no gizzards to be impaired by the power of the flecks. Now, my love?" Nyra explained before looking to her mate.
"It would be cruel to make them wait any longer." Metal Beak said and Nyra sent a barn owl screech to the bats. The bats flew out but my ears soon picked up on... Singing?

"Into battle we do fly.
No matter if we're going to die.
A nasty, scary death that hurts quite a lot.
Even if our wings are ripped clean OOOOFF!"

"No. NO! You told us you'd bring
all the Guardians." Nyra shouted at Allimere.
"But they're not Guardians." Allimere said helplessly. "Soren." I heard Kludd say in anger.
"They have no chance against the flecks." Metal Beak started, but he then turned to look at Allimere. "Still, I don't think we can trust you anymore, Allomere."
Allimere started to glare at the High Tyto and I took a threatening step towards him if he tried to do anything. "No, no, you promised me. You promised me I would be King of the Tree!"
Nyra nodded at me and I jumped him, sending the older owl to the stone floor. I used my nast battle claws to rip into his gizzard.
"You should know, Allomere... there is only room for one king." Metal Beak said to Allimere.
I finished Allimere off, and a small colony of bats took off with the corpse.
I turned back to the real fight, seeing as bats started to get past Soren's little group, but I didn't see Soren anywhere.
I noticed that Kludd was also watching the battle so I went to stand next to him.
"Hey, Kludd." I whispered to the barn owl next to me. He looked over at me questioning. "Do you like me?" I asked him and he nodded.
"You know, I liked you since we caught that bird together." He said and I smiled.
"Even though I'm the freak with ash colored wings?" I asked, looking down.
He pushed himself lightly against me and I looked at him. "They make you special, much more then any other owl here. In fact, no matter what happens today, I will stay by your side, even if you go yeep." He said encouragingly.
"Those are some big words for a common barn owl. You should be proud especially since that sounded like something your brother would say." I said while churring.
He cringed slightly, but churred none of the less.
We looked back at the scene in front of us. I saw Soren fly down at one of the fleck mechanisms and throw a coal container with fire. The fire broke the mechanism and allowed the guardians to escape the flecks.
"Pure Ones, attack!" I hear Nyra command and I flew out with Kludd and the other soldiers. Kludd left my side at one point to fight Soren and I couldn't find him so I fought my way back to Nyra and Metal Beak's side.
Something crashed into me and all I saw was a flash of white as I attempted to regain my balance while. I plummeted. Once I got control over the down drafts, I looked around to see a completely white Snowy with bright yellow eyes.
She flew towards me with basic battle claws ready to rip me to pieces. I glared at the owl. "You lesser owl, I'm needed elsewhere and not with the likes of you!" I shouted.
The white owl charged me, bringing her basic battle claws towards my head. I dogged the attack by bringing my wing close to me and flying under her, but her battle claws skimmed my shoulder.
I flapped heavily to regain myself from the pain. I turned around in the air to look at the snowy.
I decided to charge this time, so I tried to grab the snowy only for her to block in the nick of time, making me have to back flap to keep from harming myself.
The snowy then took the chance to try and slash me in the chest with her basic battle claws but I narrowly dodged it before catching her talons in my own battle claws. I then flung her into one of the fighting guardians, causing me to snicker at their shrieking.
I then made a bee-line towards Metal Beak's chamber where I knew hell was going down.
