I headed towards Harry's car. His car was jet black with very tinted windows. The only reason I knew it was him was because he rolled down the passenger's window and smiled at me. He had some what of a crooked smile. I noticed it before, but now that we was older it was more defined. He was always known for his curly hair, but oh my. It was ten times more attractive now that he grew it out. I licked my lips. Was I just checking out Harry? Oh Jesus take the wheel.
" Are you okay..." he asked. Oh. Was I staring?
" Um.. yeah." I mumbled and slipped into the car. I buckled myself and realized he was rolling up my window. Yeah, that's cool. No, just go ahead. I don't need that fresh air.
" Sorry, It's so no one recognizes me." he explained.Oh. I guess that did make sense. We rode about a mile in complete silence. It was really uncomfortable, but in all honesty I had nothing to say to him.
" Are you ever going to talk to me?" he smirked. I turned my head and looked out the window. Oh look a tree.
" Well then, I'll do the talking. So I was thinking about how you said I never called you. But I did, for almost two months I called you everyday. Now, I'm assuming you didn't believe me when I said that, but I am being 150 percent honest with you when I say, I called you." oh look a bunny hopping. How exciting.
" I was thinking and I thought maybe, did something happen to your phone? Did it break or-" My heart almost stopped when he said that. If there was a Nobel Prize for being stupid I would most definitely of won it. My phone was being all screwy and I ended needing to get a new one, which meant a new phone number. I am so dumb. I put my hands over my face and just started sobbing. I don't why, but it felt good.I haven't cried in years.
* Harry's POV *
" I was thinking and I thought maybe, did something happen to your phone? Did it break or fall into a toilet or something." I said laughing. I still remember the day when that had happened. I never thought it was possible to "accidentally" drop your phone in a toilet. Maddie always surprised me like that. I heard whimpering coming from my left. Maddie had her hands covering her face, but it was obvious she was crying.
" Whats wrong?" I asked. I grabbed her wrist and tried to pull her hands away from her face. She pulled away.I frowned.
" Don't touch me!" she screamed. My heart rate started to increase. I pulled the car to the side of the road and turned off the engine. I tried once again to pull her hands away from her face. Not having to concentrate on the road, I was successful this time. She instantly looked at the ground and blushed. I put both of her hands in one of mine. I used my other hand to hold her chin up, forcing her to look at me. Some of her mascara was messed up. It didn't look that bad though considering she hardly wore any. That was one of the things I liked most about Maddie. She knew she looked beautiful without all of that make-up.
" I will ask you one more time. What is wrong?" I asked again, hoping she would answer this time.
" Keep driving. I'll tell you on the way." ugh. at least she was talking now. I turned the engine back on and continued to the restaurant.
" I'm so dumb.." she croaked.
" No, you are not." I protested.
" Hear me out. Then maybe you will agree with me."
She told me all about how she had t0 change numbers and didn't even realize that I had no idea in the world of knowing that her number had changed.
" Did you ever think of, i don't know, maybe calling me?" I asked.
" I was too afraid to." She admitted blushing. I reached out and put my free hand on her jawline. I used my thumb and stroked her cheekbone.
" Your such a silly girl." I teased.
" I'm so sorry Haz." she said.
" I'm so sorry too." I said
" You don't need to say sorry."
"Yes I do. I do because if I realized how much you meant to me back then, I would've and, should've came running back to you."
" Don't say that.." She trailed off. We were at a red light so I wasn't going to take this opportunity for granted. I put both of my hands on her head and leaned in. Her breath was so familiar. It made me melt. We were only seconds away from a kiss when we were rudely intercepted, by a honk. Fuck.
* Madeline's POV *
He put both of his hands on my head. Oh no Harry please don't. I knew him too well and for certain knew what he was gonna do. His lips were inches away from mine. I looked into his eyes. They were still the same eyes that I feel in love with when I was 15. Was I really gonna let him kiss me? Thankfully, I didn't have to make that decision, the car behind us did. They honked, causing both of us to go back into reality. Harry accelerated forward. I could tell by the look in his eyes that he was pissed. Did that mean he actually wanted to kiss me? What am I kidding, he was the one to lean in!
