This is sort of AU however they are a band, like a new band. Luke is normal, although this is set in America, he is Australian. Please leave comments and vote, really appreciate it!

I started to gather all of the food and the drinks onto the table whilst huddles of people were entering the barn, which was decorated abundantly because of the occasion. I avoided any eye contact because I didn’t want all the attention to be on me, although, it was because of me.

I had just graduated from Chicago Arts School, which was a big moment for me, only because I got to leave the place called “hell”. However, it was only me people were to congratulate – it was the rest of the graduates, but it was mostly me, because my mother planned it.

I rolled my eyes at the banners that had circulated the room, Christmas lights I used for the last year cascaded it, making it seem like it was a festival. The lights were attached to the DJ, so once the DJ started the music, it would consume all the electricity, which causes the lights to flicker. I rolled my eyes at how unconstructive these things were. Once I had the food and drinks ready, I rubbed my sides and walked towards the DJ, who had his mind on other things.

"Can you put on some music from this generation because I know that my mother hired you to place something suitable for the parents, but it is my graduation, I think I deserve my own songs, as well as the other graduates." I gave him a manufactured grin, hoping that he would be munificent enough to let this go––just for the benefit of this night.

I knew that this night wasn’t going to be good––for two reasons. One; I wasn’t exactly social, especially when it came to congratulating other graduates. Second; half of those damn graduates were one of the few people I hated. He looked towards my mother who was glancing at us, wondering why we were talking to each other, but then he turned to me and sneered.

"Fine, but if I get in trouble, you take the blame, yeah?" I nodded credulously, concentrating on the DJ table, I walked away, avoiding eye contact with my mother. But she strolled towards me, with her hand on my shoulder. I could hear a wheeze in her throat before the music started, he started to play “R U MINE” by Arctic Monkeys––my stomach twirled and clenched.

My mother was about to speak but she furrowed her brows, "What is this?"

"It’s a song," I said smartly.

Then she rolled her eyes, "I know it’s a damn song," she gritted her teeth but restricted her anger. "Can’t you see that there are parents here? This song could be about sex for all I know! This god forsaken place is the place where we are marked as the best family in this damn town. Can you please not jeopardise this with this silly band you like?"

"Yeah! This is my song!" I turned around, completely disregarding what my mother’s tirade was about, and looked at whoever bellowed that. A couple of boys trudged inside, cheering––acting as if they were already drunk as hell. My heart raced once I saw Taylor standing by Mike and George, the triple threat, they like to call themselves. I rolled my eyes at what they called themselves.

They only called themselves that because they were the only group in high school that haven’t split up. Considering the whole school knows whoever your friend was in the first year of high school definitely will not be your friend at your last year.

And it was true, all my friends have split up and gone to be friends with other people and well, left me to ponder on who can be my friend. But now I don’t really care, considering I have finished school, I don’t have to worry about friends.

The “triple threat” glanced at me and started to make the signature face they made for me which consisted of pushing up your nose and rolling your eyes up. It was stupid, really. I didn’t realise until my mother had smacked the side of arm that I had blocked out everything she had said. "Can you please listen?"
