My story

We got out of the car, and he brought me to the door, when another car parked behind us.

"Is your dad okay?" Grayson asked confused, after he looked at the vehicle.

"Yeah, sure, why..."

I turned around and realized, that this wasn't just any car, it was an emergency doctor car....

And it wasn't just any emergency doctor in the car, it was mine...

The one, who was responsible for me, while I was in hospital.

That would be embaressing!

"Ehm, no, he's here to check on me"

"On you? Because of what happened earlier?"

"No! That was nothing special... he checks, if I'm fully recovered now"

"Oh"

"Hi, Alexis, how are you today?"

"I'm good, thanks Mr. Josh"

"I see, this is your new friend? I'm sorry, I probably scared you, because of my car... my wife has my normal one."

"It's fine, that is Grayson... But Gray, don't you need to go now?"
I asked, because I didn't want him to know about my tragic past.

I wanted to start all over again, here, in LA and Mr. Josh should have been the only thing in my new life, that would remind me of the accident, but nobody else should have known... until now.

My dad came out of the house,

"Hey, Al, hello Mr. Josh, and... oh, who are you?"

"I'm Grayson, nice to meet you, you must be Lexis dad, right?"

"Lexi, ehm, yeah, that's me" He smiled polite, then they shaked their hands.

"So, Grayson is a friend of yours, Al?"

I looked at Gray, he nodded.

"Yes, but I think, he needs to go now, right Gray?"

"Actually..."

"Oh really? I thought, you could come in and drink coffee with us?"

"Sure, why not?"
Gray said, while he was looking at me and smiling whimsically.

I slapped him on his arm, really?

He knew, that I'm not comfortable with him beeing here...

Thanks dad!

After the doc was finished with his usual check-up, my dad went upstairs and left me and Gray alone in the living room.

"That was exciting, wasn't it? You're fully recovered, right?"

"Yeah, I guess", I smiled.

"Let's go on the balcony", I suggested.

We went upstairs, in my room and out the door.

Then we sat down on two comfortable chairs, and looked in the sky.

"Ehm, Lexi? I don't want to bother you, but what actually happened to you?"

I stuttered embarressed.

"I... I had a car accident... and I couldn't remember anything after it! And then I slowly got my memory back, with help of special brain exercises, and storytellers, who retold particular parts of my life, in order to help me remember them...
But I still don't remember as much as I did before the accident, and it feels like, I only know my life in the past like a subject at school. It feels like I never experienced it, and that I just learned it all by heart... And that's a horrible feeling, which is why I decided to start all over again, with my own experiences and my own memories!"

"Wow" He looked shocked, but he seemed to understand it.

"That gets me... But I am really interested in these, I guess, they're called near-death-experiences...
As I told you before, my girlfriend died, and I like to make it look more beautiful, than that ugly word 'death', you know? I really wanna know everything about death and life and whatever happens after that...you know, in order to understand the things that happen in daily life... and it seems like, people are rather capable of understanding near-death-experiences than actual death, so I wanna start there. You're the perfect contact person!"

"I can understand why... But I don't know, if I'm ready to learn so much about this terrible thing, that stole my whole childhood!"

"Please, Alexis, I'm freaking out, I want to know, I want to understand, what's going on, what happens, when people die..."

"You probably are, and so do I, but so do all the other humans out there, who lost someone loved... Do WE really need to find out the secret all behind it?" I asked uncertained.

"Don't you wanna understand, what happened to you? Don't you wanna find the reason, why you lost your memory? Maybe you can get it back?" He wispered the last sentence.

"I need to think about it, okay?"

He seemed disappointed.

"Of course, think about it... Tell me, whenever you're ready!"
