A Friend

(Y/N) POV

I roller-bladed back home to my large house with gates and passcode locks and three floors, which my parents barely even live in, but I guess it's nice to have some alone time.

I really hate being rich because of my parents. I want to climb up to success, but instead they just hand it to me without my consent.

I seem ungrateful, which I sometimes can be, but I hate the looks I get from people when I walk out of this house. They either look at me with fear or disgust, and it used to make me frustrated, but now I just ignore the on-lookers.

I plopped down onto my soft bed and texted my best-friend, Ophelia. (picture of ophelia below)

"Dude, something insane just happened..."

"OHMIGODWHAT"

"Soo, I went down to the beach as usual and I kinda met this guy and he kinda asked me to meet him there again tomorrow, same time."

"THIS IS WHAT YOU NEEEEEEEEEED, DUDE! You're so introverted and it makes people think you're weird, maybe this will be a little kickstart for a future social butterfly!!"

"ouch. jkjk"

"I didn't mean it like that, anyways, DESCRIBE NOW."

"He had pale skin for a Californian, I bet he's a tourist or something, he had long, curly dark brown hair under a hat and he had huge lips for a dude, but for some reason it made him more attractive."

"Ooh, did he have a friend? ;)"

"Actually yes, he was tall, had light brown noodle hair and he wore flip flops."

"YES! girl, you better suggest a double date or I'll like literally murder you."

"okay okay, chill. Goodnight!"

"Night, (Y/N)."

I set my phone down on my nightstand and I got up to make myself supper, even though it was like, eight o'clock.

"WhatdoIgotWhatdoIgot, oh, great, Cinnamon Toast Crunch. I can deal with that."

(or should I say "Cinnamon Cereal" haha I hope some of you get the reference =D)

I finally got to sleep after trudging up the stairs and falling into my bed. I fell asleep thinking about the mystery boy, and his gorgeous smile and his dreamy eyessszzzzZZZZ.

My eyes fluttered and my pupils danced, but I slept like a baby, for it was the most excitement I've had in awhile.

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEEEEEEEEEEP!!!

I threw my alarm clock across the room, hitting a beanbag chair I use for reading.

I yawned and sat up, wiping the drool from my cheek and adjusting my messy hair behind my face and looked at my clock sitting upon the beanbag chair, it read 12:00pm.

"Wow, (Y/N), you're such a morning person." I muttered while rolling my eyes.

Once I finally got up, I did my hair and got dressed, no need to take a shower, since I took one last night before texting Ophelia. (outfit below)

I ran out of my doors, making sure to lock them about three times and I grabbed my roller blades from my garage and off I went.

I had to meet the boy at 5pm, so I had some time to kill.

I texted Ophelia and asked her if she could hang out at the ice cream parlor by the beach, she agreed, and told me she could be there in 20 minutes. I could be there in about 20 as well, maybe 15 depending on the amount of pedestrians, so I went on my way.

The sun was bright and there weren't any clouds in the sky, the waves were perfect, but today there were important things than surfing. As I zoomed past a generally open sidewalk, I passed a couple getting engaged and a small dog with no collar that was following a blind man, barking at people who got too close. It seemed fairytale-like, everything did. There was a good view of some hills and because they were so far away, they had a purple haze cast upon them. As I said before, fairy-tale like.

I finally made it to the ice-cream parlor, and I saw Ophelia's mom's car pull into the parking lot, the top was open and she hopped out instead of using the door and sprinted at me excitedly and embraced me in a hug. Her baggy sweatshirt was too hot for a summer day and it smelled of weed, but guys still fall for her instantly, it's kinda funny, but she doesn't want to date at all, she is a year older than me, 15, but she is still in 9th grade with me.

We walked into the ice cream parlor and at one of the tables.

"Dude, did you hear that Finn Wolfhard is in our part of town?" Ophelia asked, her fingers tapping excitedly.

"Who's that?" I asked confusedly.

"Only the lead singer of Calpurnia! The best teenage band in the state! Don't tell me you've never heard of them?!" She answered

(In this fanfic, he isn't an actor, he just has his band to make it a little less insane with paparazzi.)

"No, I think I've heard their cover of Twin Peaks. That was really good, but I don't know what they look like." I replied.

"Whatever, it's not important, but what IS important is your daAAaAte toniiight!" Ophelia taunted.

"It's not really a date, he just asked me to meet him there." I said, myblood rushing to my face, making it as red as a tomato.

"OOOOOOH YOU'RE BLUSHING!!! She yelled and then raised her eyebrow inquisitively.

"shut up."

"Whatever, but you aren't wearing that outfit." She said whilst rolling her eyes.

"Why? What's wrong with it?" I said defensively.

"Don't get me wrong, it's cute, but it isn't "date" worthy."

"Touche, touche." I said and jokingly put my hands up.

(Fast forward two hours)

We've stopped at many stores at the mall we've decided to go to, and we have finally chosen an outift that was absolutely perfect for tonight. It was about 3pm, so I had two hours before I would get to see him again, unless he flakes, I really hope he doesn't.

I'm rollerblading home with a paper bag in my hand and I see people talking and laughing, a little kid skipping on the gravel with his parents, an old couple sitting on a bench and clouds have developed, but it was still sunny, but there was a little more shade than there was at noon.

I've finally reached the iron gates of my empty household, unknowingly anticipating a change in my future forever.
