Salt

You were supposed to be my friend;

You were everything to me;

We were meant to last;

Then I broke;

I can't see clearly;

The tears block sight, block mind;

Tears or blood?

Salt meets salt.

You were supposed to be my forever;

My light in the pain;

You were my happy;

Now I drop my head as you walk away;

I was made by your hands;

I was snapped by them too;

What's the point of going on without light?

Demons rage in darkness.

You were supposed to be there for me;

They see me as I am;

They see a broken girl;

They see a shadow;

They see nothing;

They want to protect you;

Weren't you supposed to protect me?

I fight a war of swords, armed only with smoke.

You were supposed to care;

That's what you said;

I'll be there for you;

It's not what you meant;

You left me to die;

You left me to cry;

Why did you leave?

My tears feel hot, but I am numb with cold.

You were supposed to be my soldier;

Now I'm losing;

I'm losing to the shadow;

I'm losing who I am;

Who I used to be;

Who you made me;

Is it possible to lose everything?

I have.

You were supposed to stay;

The pain pushed you away;

The darkness;

The hurting;

The contagious feeling of nothing;

The silent cries for help;

Was it that unbearable?

I am helpless.

You were supposed to be my happy;

That's how you made me feel;

Then you didn't;

Then it stopped;

Then the dark came back;

The demons;

Have you seen them?

They hunt the fallen.

You were supposed to stop the pain;

That's what you said;

That's what you promised;

Everything hurts now;

My heart;

My soul;

Do you know what that feels like?

You could never know.

You were supposed to help;

It doesn't matter now;

It never did;

Not to you;

Never to you;

Nothing does;

Do you know what you do to me?

My heart stopped beating long ago.

You were supposed to be my friend;

I lost everything;

I lost you;

You left me for the demons;

Left me to die;

Left me to cry;

Tears or blood?

Salt meets salt.
