i watched it shatter,
fall to the ground and
d i s i n t e g r a t e

it fell before my very eyes
and rippled around me.

i could've saved it,
but it was bound to have happened.

we were shaky, always on edge.
the ground crumbled beneath our very feet.

you lied,
and i knew that.
but something made me stay.

you knew i'd been hurt; you knew i was hurting.
i sought comfort
in an artificial being.

you were nothing but a ticking time bomb,
ready to shatter the second you felt fear.

you claimed i instilled it
then hid behind everyone else
because you were too weak to take the blame.

so i let it shatter
and fall to the ground.
it disintegrated

and she smiled.
