Chapter 2

*MIRANDA'S POV*

CHAPTER 2

I woke up to what felt like just a few minutes, but was actually a few hours, in a hospital bed with a bad headache. I was still dizzy, so I couldn't make out the figures in front of me. Once I was a little more awake, I saw a very worried looking Nicki,as well as concerned Niall and Louis who were with her . The first thing that came out of my mouth was, "What are they doing here?"

NICKI calmly asked the boys if they would give us some alone time so that she could explain. Niall said, "Of course," in his sweet Irish accent, and they left. Nicki then turned to me and said, "Well, when I dragged you into the crowd of fangirls, we got to the front, like right behind Niall, and he swung his arm backwards. He hit you in the head so hard, he knocked you out and gave you a pretty bad concusion." "Well ok then. Now why are they here?" I said. "They are here because they wanted to make sure you were okay." Nicki replied. That's nice, I thought. They must be busy, as popstars always are, so it was really kind of them to make time to check on me. "Am I staying here? Are they staying here?" I asked her. "The doctor said you should stay for at least a week, and then he'll see if you're good to go. As for the guys, they aren't on tour now and they seem really worried about you, so I think they might hang out a while and visit with you." Oh, I thought, so they weren't so busy after all. "It's not that bad," Nicki continued, "I mean, that Niall and Louis are here. The concussion part is bad." I smiled and teased her, "So, how are you managing to contain yourself? I mean, with talking to them, standing within two feet of them, breathing the same air as them-" "Okay, okay," she interuppted, and then she grinned, "Ahhhhhh! Oh my gosh like my dreams have all come true! Well, I haven't married Louis or had our baby Bethany yet, but..... ahhhh!" I teased her and responed,"Yeah, and you can thank my serious concussion, hospital confinement, and extreme pain for that."

WE heard a knock, and Louis opened the door a crack. "Is it alright if we come back in now?" His shifted his eyes to the left, where a nurse stood. She stopped staring at him long enough to give me a light smile. I could see past them, where Niall stood cornered by two young female nurses. Probably telling him their life story, I thought, or just flirting hard enough to crack the moon. Louis' eyes widened, saying 'get me away from her'. My eyes flipped back onto Niall, who was leaning on the wall with his hands pressed against it, looking very protective. Ha ha ha, I thought, they must not be used to this, with their bodyguards and all. "Yeah, you can come back in." Louis stepped in, leaving the nurse, who's smile changed into a scowl, looking straight at me. Niall smiled and nodded at the nurses while he slid along the wall into the room, quicky shutting the door behind him. The two looked exhausted and relieved. Nicki and I looked at each other briefly, and then burst out laughing. Niall and Louis looked pissed off, but only for a second. "You two seemed to be having fun out there," Nicki said, messing with them. Niall rolled his eyes, and Louis said, "Loads." Niall joins in with us, saying to him, "I don't know, Louis, the one on you was pretty ho-" "Shut up Niall." Louis playfully said, cutting him off and throwing the dirty chair cushion at him.

THE next hour went on like that, with the four of us joking around like longtime friends. We asked about their crazy famous life, and they told us some really crazy fangirl stories. Louis told one about this girl who somehow snuck into their dressing rooms backstage at a concert, and hid in their suitcases. She was found when Harry needed to get a new t-shirt because his got soaked in a prank Liam played on him. Since it was a while after the concert, everything was all packed up. Harry unzipped his suitcase to get a shirt out, and, well, the girl was there. I looked over at Nicki, who immediately started blushing because she had told me a while ago that she had a plan to hide in their suitcases. We exchanged phone numbers, after the guys jokingly made us swear not to give them out. Around 6:30, the nurse who had been flirting with Louis brought in my dinner. It was a burger with flat lettuce, fries, and a chocolate milkshake with whipped cream. Not bad for hospital food, I thought, but it probably doesn't taste too great.... The nurse then sat down on Louis' lap, but he quickly stood up. She fell onto the floor and he said, "Not gonna happen." After the nurse quietly exited, we all looked at Louis. "Hey," he said, shrugging, "Someone's gotta get the message to her." We all laughed. In a few minutes, another nurse came in with a plate of food. I bet Louis and Niall aren't worried about her jumping on them, I thought, because she is probably in her 50's. "I was trying to find the nurse that had been assigned to your room to bring this to you, but she wasn't anywhere. We had some more food prepared for your guests." she explained. "Thank you." Nicki said. "Yeah, thanks a bunch," Niall added, "This looks great!" After she left, Niall said,"Well.... not so great." They had a plate of chicken nuggets, more french fries, and three cans of diet coke. As we ate, Niall mentioned to Louis, "Well nice job, you scared the poor girl." Louis tried to look innocent as we all laughed. It was getting pretty late, and the boys said they should get going.

"We'll come back tomorrow and check in on you, Miranda," Louis said.

Niall added, "Definetely. And we'll maybe get to hang out with you girls more?" He was looking at me, and I could feel myself begin to blush. I answered, "That would be great." Nicki said, "Yeah, I had an awesome time." Louis agreed saying, "Me too." Nicki blushed, and Louis did as well. "I'm really sorry about what happened, Miranda." Niall told me. "Hey, I got to meet 2/5 of One Direction, so its not that bad." I smiled at him. "We'll catch you girls later. Bye," Louis said, followed with a chorus of bye's.

AFTER they left, Nicki and I talked for a while. "So, what was happening with you and Louis?" I said, giving her a smile. Blushing, she responed, "Exactly what was going on between you and Niall!" We gushed about them for a little while, when Nicki said, "Wait, hold up. You aren't even a fan or anything!" I replied, "Yeah, but once you get to know them, they are pretty cool guys. And besides, I never said that I didn't like them or their music!" She looked at me like she was examining me.

"Uhm, if I recall correctly, your exact words were that they were singing coyotes."

"I actually don't recall." I said though I 100% recall calling them singing coyotes. I still think that was a hilarious joke even if I don't apply it to them anymore.

"Okay fine. We'll talk more about it in the morning. My mom said she'll be here to pick me up in two minutes." "Why don't you head down there now?" I suggested. She nodded, and we said our goodbyes. In twenty minutes, my mom came in to check on me. She said she'll visit me again tomorrow, and I asked her to bring me some magazines, and other stuff to keep me busy when Nicki wasn't here. She left soon after.

I spent the rest of the day watching some movie. I wasn't really comcentrating on it, but thinking about the One Direction guys. I got to spend a whole afternoon with NIALL HORAN and LOUIS TOMILSON, and I didn't win this at some auction for charity. I had a great time talking with them, and I think they enjoyed their day too. It just seem so unreal that we were casually hanging out with some of the most famous people on the planet, and I know Nicki felt the same way. I was really impressed with how well she kept her fangirl-ism under control. My day was so crazy, and I hadn't even thought about my injury. My head really didn't hurt that bad, so it was no problem. I was really tired, so after the nurse (who was still pissed at me for cutting her flirting with Louis short) checked in on me and did some tests, I fell asleep.
