A girl can't buy condoms in a dispensary store,
but a girl should get married before the age of 24.
A country where kissing is public is looked down upon,
A country where the girls shouldn't walk the streets alone,
A country where if you are raped then its sad,
but if you don't have a child before 26 your in-laws will get mad.
The roads where a girl can't go out at night,
The roads where a girl can't walk without comments being passed on at sight,
The roads where the rape is now a common thing,
May that is why girls prefer to cover their faces with scarf for the time being.
A culture where wearing a dress is looked down upon,
A culture where sleeveless blouse and saree is called desi,
A culture where a 2 inch gap between top and pant is called characterless identification,
But a six inch gap between blouse and saree is known as tradition.
I live in a country where
at festival elders wash the feet of girl,
In the name of our top class religion,
By night the men rape the innocent girl,
Only because they couldn't control their shameful desire.
This is my country where the rape rate,
Is higher than the tax rates,
That's not where I was born,
That's how we have made this country.
