Prologue

"Don't leave Emily" Raphael whispered into my ear, sending a paralyzing shock throughout my already fragile body.

"I have to Raphael; we both know this is not going to work". He leaned over and placed butterfly kisses all over my face.

"Emily, please I don't think I can make it another second without you in my arms, I need you".

My heart cracked when I felt one of his tears drop on my cheek. He had taken my heart for the hundredth time this summer.

"I have to go Raphael" I murmured as I tried to get up to leave. "Please" he said in a raspy voice sounding as if he was seconds away from breaking down in tears.

My heart shattered this time; this was going to be the hardest thing I ever done. I got up and was heading for the door when his arms snaked out and grabbed my waist pulling me into his arms. He placed his hands on my face and raised my chin up. I looked into his eyes and saw his pain. My already shattered heart had melted. This was going to be really hard.

"At least spend this last night with me Emily, please" he pleaded as he wiped a tear from my swollen eyes.

"You know that won't be a good idea Raphael, I have to go, why postpone the agony of having to leave you my heart can't take falling in love with you one more time." I said as I gave in to the warmth of his embrace.

"Please Emily" he said as he broke down in my arms. "Please Emily" he whispered into my ears, pulling me back into the bed again.

"Okay" I said as I laid beside him mentally storing everything about him into my memory. His smell, his small but yet meaningful displays of love, his kisses, oh I would miss his kisses passionate but yet peaceful.

I sniffed as he pulled me in closer and whispered "I love you Emily" tears continued to slip from my eyes as we laid there in silence.

"I love u too" I said minutes later after his breathing had stilled and I knew that he was asleep. I carefully slipped out of his arms and headed for the door, not looking back. I was walking out of his life and he was slipping out of mine. This was going to be hard but the summer was over and so was the short romance of mine.
