I finally walked up the steps to my porch. Strange, I heard laughter and the house was lit up. There was never any happiness in our house! I reached for the door nob and turned it slowly to try and not disturb the laughter and joy seeping out of the little home...

Inside the house it had a warm atmosphere. Beautiful and cozy and pleasant, like when Dad was with us. I snapped out of my little day dream and heard Mother chuckling in the kitchen. It made me feel warm and safe hearing her funny but cute laugh. It's been awhile since she's been happy. I followed the sound of it to the kitchen. I walked through the door and stood at the door way. "Hello Sweetie Pie!" She greeted. She was so cheery it made me a little emotional. "Hi Mother." Before I could ask her why she was so happy she interrupted me. "Look who came home early!" I nearly passed from what I saw... or should I say who I saw...
