The Death of a Mother

Amy's POV

"What?!" Sonic yelled.

"Woh, woh. What a sec!" Tails exclaimed. "What does she mean about 'your' kingdom?" Sonic ignored him.

"How? Why?"

"No one knows. She has an unknown illness. And the doctor's say she might not get better. At least not by the looks of things." Sonia paused, looking upset. "But, I'm sure mother would love to see you."

I can't believe Sonic's mother is dying. But who is she? And why are they talking about kingdoms?

Sonic shook his head, and muttered "No," to himself. There was a sudden gust of wind. Sonic was gone.

"We have to go after him!" Sonia ordered.

"Right," I replied. I looked around, and I can't find Shadow anywhere. He must've left. "Follow me!"

Cream, Tails, Rogue, Knuckles, and I followed the pinkish hedgehog to a trail.

A few moments later, we arrived a beautiful kingdom. As we walked through the kingdom, Rogue's eyes widened at the scenery. "Damn," she gasped. "So many beautiful jewels! And gold!" She smirked, like she had an idea, and flew off. Sometimes, I don't understand that bat.

We walk on until a castle stands before us.

"Welcome to the Castle of the Royal Hedgehogs Family!"

Sonic's POV

I run into the castle. Or, at least until one of the guards stopped me.

"Who are you?" He demanded.

"Really?! You don't know who I am,"

He looked at me from head to toe. "Never seen you. You better leave, or else."

"I'm Sonic the Hedgehog." I say annoyed.

He looked at me again. "Oh, really? Then prove it. Go to China and bring me some noodles."

"Fine."

About a split second later, I had a bowl of noodles in my hands. "Happy now?"

He blinked, then bowed. "O-oh. I am very sorry Your Majesty. Please forgive me."

I sigh. "It's fine." I pass the guard and walk into the kitchen.

As I walk in, many of the servants, guards, and maids stared at me. "Where's Manic?" I ask them. A black cat pointed to a room on the left. "The next room." She replied.

"Thanks."

I go there, hearing him play his drums. An idea popped in my head. I burst through the door with a bang. "Manic!" I yell.

He jumps up and screams like a girl, despite his low voice. I laugh at him, rolling on the floor.

"Don't ever do that again!" He yells. Then he stops, and blinks at me. "What a sec..." He takes a good look at me. "Sonic! How are ya, bro! And what happened to your arm?"

"Forget about that. Where's mom at?"

Manic sighs. "She's in her bedroom. And she has this-"

"I know. Sonia told me." I interrupted.

"Ok. This way."

We walk to her bedroom in silence. As we arrive at the front door to her room, Manic stops in his tracks.

"This is as far as I will go. I can't stand to she mom like that."

"Ok, then." I say. I hesitate before walking in. Well, this is it.

"Hello?" I ask.

"Sonic?" Says a weak voice. "Sonic is that you?"

"Mom! Are you ok?"

She coughs. "Yes. I'm fine."

"No your not," I say. "You need some rest to get better."

The purple hedgehog seems to have trouble breathing. "Sonic...will you do something for me?"

"Anything!"

"Make sure your new step father...King Jules, protects the kingdom." She pauses and coughs a few times, then takes in a deep, shaky breath. " And...t-tell your brother and sister...I said...good bye."

"What do you mean?" I say, being to shake.

My mother went on, ignoring what I said. "Remember...I'll always love you...no matter what. And... I am sure you will make...the best...king...Möbius will ever have." She had tears in her eyes. "Be brave...my prince..."

Her breaths became shallow. Until it stopped altogether.

"Mom?! MOM!" But it was to late.

She was already dead.
