Two Different Worlds Collide (A Nemi Fanfic)

Demi POV

I pulled up to school for senior year super excited, this was it, after this it's off to college and then the real world. I had my ear plugs in and then I saw Selena waiting for me at the fountain. 

"Hey, long time no see," we laughed because we saw each other yesterday picking out our outfits. "Why don't we drive in together? I'll pick you up tomorrow and we can get breakfast in the morning, there's no point of both of us driving to school right?" I said this hoping she would agree because i personally just hate walking into school alone. "Yeah sounds good. Lets go get our schedules" we walked over to the cafeteria and got our classes, we had 3 classes together, the first three of course.

We got to first period and everyone was talking and so Selena and I joined into the conversation. Our first period teacher was Miss.David, she was young and somewhat good looking so all the guys were drooling over here. She walked in and very sarcastically said, "Close your mouths boys, as most of you know I'm Miss.David. I'll be teaching you Advance Placement U.S History this semester and yeah, and I know you're all seniors so just bare with me for 120 out of the 180s days and after the 120th day, we will watch movies for then on because that marks the day of the AP exams, yay!" She then passed out the sylabus. "Ok, I know most of you but who is Jonas? Nicholas?" A boy stood up in the back he looked a little shy but still rugid, he looked like a badass that was new. "Yeah I'm Nick, I'm new." We all welcomed him nicely. "Alright Jonas, you're going to switch seats with Gomez because I know how her and Lovato get when they're together" Then she looked at me and winked, like she knew I thought he was good looking. He came up to me and appoligized and I said "No problem, I'm Demi, are you excited for this year?" Why would I even ask that, he's having his senior year in a new school, that must suck. "Yeah I guess." Then he just looked at the board.

At the end of class, he asked for the rest of my classes and I told him and we ended up have 4th 5th and 6th period together. "I'll see you there Lovato" and then he walked away when Selena came up to me, "Hmm, I can see it" she nudge me and I didn't even want to defend myself because I did see myself with him, he was good looking and I think he had a back story which was awesome. 

At the end of the day, in 6th period I said by to Nick assuming that he was ok and knew what he was doing by now and we exchanged numbers, I think he just needed a friend but I'm not complaining. I texted Selena Meet by the fountain. I walked to the fountain and she was waiting. "Hey what's up?" She said "Nothing, do you want to get lunch, I hate eating at the cafeteria." She nodded her head and we walked to my car and got in. We drove to the local diner and saw Nick walking home. It was about 90 degrees out and he was walking. I pulled over and rolled down the window, "Hey Jonas, get in the car" I smiled and he refused to, he insisted that his house is right up the corner. "You can't possibly be telling me that our classes together today were that bad that you don't even want me to drive you home? Ok, thanks bye then" I used the guilt trip on him and he got in, "You really know how to get what you want." He smirked and then I told him we were going to get something to eat and he was coming with us and he didn't say no. The whole ride was quiet except for the music playing in the back, it was my Paramore play list so it was mostly rock music so whatever.

We all ordered waffles and things along the lines of breakfast food even though it was 2:30. Selena felt awkward I could tell so she spoke first, "So where did you move here from?" He looked up with maple syrup on his face. "New Jersey, did you guys live in California for? Your whole life?" Sel said her answer first. "I lived here my whole life but Demi moved here in 3rd grade, I was her only friend" She laughed and I did too because it was true. "Well you obviously made more friends since then" He smiled infering that him and I were friends.

After we were stuffed I paid and Nick insisted on paying me back so he gave me cash. "You can take me home first, my moms mad I forgot to tell her we were going out" Selena said. "Okay, to your house we go."

I dropped her off, "Wait Selena, I'm picking you up in the morning right? Are we getting breakfast or no?" She nodded her head yes, "Yes to both! Love you Dem!" I replied with a I love you too.

"So to your house? Do you know how to get there or do you just want to put your address in my phone for the GPS?" I thought I was talking a little too fast but he understood "I know how to get there, I moved here a month ago, I should have this down" He knew exactly where he lived, it was a real nice house, bigger than mine which was weird. Then I looked around and I noticed something, "Wait you live here? I live down the street from you, that's pretty cool!" He looked pretty happy, "Wow really, that's awesome." It's weird, I could usually read people really well, but I didn't understand him, I don't know how he really acts. "Yeah, do you need a ride to school or anything, I'm more than happy to pick you up, it's just me and Sel in the morning, you're more than welcome to breakfast." He looked so freaking happy I asked him that "Yeah that sounds great, you have my number right? Just text me when you're coming to get me." Then he got out of the car and an all black mustang pulled out with a guy in it that looked in his early twenties, he looked at me and he looked like Nick so I'm just assuming he had siblings.

I got home and went straight to my room and did my homework. Then after I was done with that I filled out some college apps. I came from a fairly wealthy family but my parents always made me work for what I had. I saved up for my car, and now they'e going to put me through college. I looked at the time and it was 4, I had to go get Maddie at school, so I put on sweat pants and a t-shirt. I was driving down the street and of course he was outside doing lawn work.

"Hey what's up, need a break?" I'm trying to make him feel welcome here because I know people at our school aren't always the nicest. "Eh, yeah sure where are you going?" He was so sweaty it was actually a turn on. "I have to pick my sister up from school, after we usually go to 7/11 and get a slurpee or something, get on in." We drove to school listening to paramore then I told him he can change it if he wants. "I love Paramore, it's actually the reason why I keep getting in your car." He smiled and I could tell that he's really starting to feel more comfortable. "Yeah, I'm actually in love with them, see there's a start at this friendship."

We pulled up across the street from the school and Maddie got into the car. "Hey Maddie, this is Nick, he's new here, he's from Jersey. We're getting slurpees." She said hello and then contiuned to talk to me. "How was your first day of school Mads?" I asked. "Um it was good. I'm already super excited for summer." We all laughed and Nick said "Aren't we all".

We got our slurpees and got into the car. "Maddie you don't have homework right? It was only the first day of school." She shook her head no and I broke the ice. "So I'm assuming you didn't go to the beach much in fall in Jersey didn you Jonas?" I called him Jonas just so he gets that we're friends. "Nope, we should totally go." I looked at Maddie. "Mom would kill me if I took you wearing that, do you mind if I just dropped you off at home?" Maddie didn't really mind if she wasn't involed with my plans because of the age differance and that she understands that we do hang out a lot. "I don't mind at all." I drove her home and Nick and I had a nice drive to the beach, we talked mostly about music and I liked that mostly because I think that music brings people together.

We got to the beach and I let the elephant in the room drop, "So what's your story?" It was cliche but I needed to know. "What do you mean my 'story?' " 

"You know like what are you like? I can usually read people really well but you're different, I don't understand what's going on in your head, you look like a bad ass but you're so nice. I don't get it." He gave off a little smile which was the cutest thing in the world.

"Alright, back in Jersey I wasn't the nicest kid but I'm really trying to change, I didn't pick on people but like I just got in trouble a lot. It was a lot different. The cops would show up at my house with me in the back seat, they knew my family because of me, well and my dads money. He would just pay them off everytime they went to my house. I'm not a dumb kid though, I'm taking mostly advance placement classes. I don't know what else you want me to say but that's pretty much it. I'm really trying to change here and it's the main reason I moved here." I was speachless, I knew he wasn't a shy kid.
