Friends Forever

Nick POV

Yesterday was really weird but now that everything I have everything out in the open with Demi, I feel like we can be friends again, even if Selena doesn't agree with it. I put on my nice with shirt with my Blue tie and then over top, my graduation gown. It's weird to think this is all happening today. It seems like just yesterday that I came to this school, and what's even worse is that I have to give a speech. They thought it would be a good idea for me to speak today since I was the only new student this year. My phone started to ring and I answered, "Hello?" I said into the phone, it was Selena. "Hey  are we driving together to the school, or are we meeting there?" It's weird, I made plans with Demi to go with her to graduation a couple months ago but I'm guessing she knows that's not going to happen. I'll pick you in 30 minutes, we can go to the diner and get some food before then we can go get those diplomas" I said and laughed and then she snapped, "Nick I can barley fit in my dress as it is, I can't be eating greasy diner food, just pick me up and we'll go to the school. We don't even have time to go to the diner. Ugh this is so stressful." It sucks how controlling she is. "I'm on my way right now." I ran downstairs and Joe and Blanda were sitting on the couch. "Oh look, my little brother is graduating today, what a stud. I hope you don't mind but Blanda is coming to, to show you moral support since Mom and Dad can't make it." It was sad that they wouldn't see me walk down to get my diploma but I understand. "Yeah, Blanda is like my sister, it's all good" I said while smiling and Blanda gave me a hug." 

Then Joe stood up and I stuck out my hand to give him a hand shake, he shook it then hugged me, "I'm so proud of you. You've been through so much this year," Then he let go of me almost in tears. "Mom and Dad send their love from-" and there was a pause, "Right there" He said with the biggest smile on his face and looked away from me, I turned around and saw my parents standing behind me, "Oh my god, mom, dad, what are you doing here?!" I ran up to them and hugged them, "Did you really think we were going to miss this, we flew in this morning. Look at my little boy, all grown up. Are we meeting you there? Are you picking up Demi then going?" I never told them Demi and I broke up and Joe cleared his throat. "I'm picking up Selena, then we're going to the ceremony." They kind of look surprised, "Who's Selena?" My dad asked. It got kind of awkward so Blanda excused herself from the room. "My girlfriend." After that, Joe also excused himself. "Oh. We will talk about this later then I guess. We got catering after graduation, your aunt Colleen, Uncle Bill, Aunt Diane, Uncle Rob and Grandmother Sue is in town for this so you can invite your friends if they want to come." I nodded my head and walked out of the door. When I got into my car I rolled out to pick up Selena and when she got in the car she said, "I can't wait to get this over with." I just ignored her and she played some bad rap music in my car. "Are you ready for your speech?" She asked, and I swear it's the first thing she asked about me. "Yeah, I think I got it down, summing up the school year to 5 short minutes." She smiled and kissed me, of course right when we were passing Demis house, since we cut through my neighbor hood to get to school, and of course she was out side getting into her car, AND OF COURSE she saw me. I'm not one for PDA ecpecally in front of my ex girlfriend

We pulled up to school and they had valets so I gave them my keys and Selena took my hand smiled at me and we walked up to the school. Times like this is the reason I'm with her, she really is a nice girl certain times. When we got inside, everyone was hugging everyone and I had a lot of conversations going on. It was really nice, I met some people this year that I will never forget. On the loud speaker there was an announcement "Will all Seniors go to the football fields, the ceremony will be starting shortly, remember your order." And just like that everything became so real, we all got in the lines, everyone was kind of silent. We walked onto the turf and they started calling names with what school they will be attending after high school. I was curious what school Demi ended up picking. David Jeffery University of California; Shannon Jones, Berkley Univiersity, as these names go by, the line is get closer to my name and it's really scary, Nicholas Jonas, Penn State Univeristy, and I was smiling so big, the Dean shook my hand and congratulated me. Then I sat down, Selena looked back at me and smiled really big, she was almost in tears. Then I see Demi getting closer to the stage, "Demetria Lovato, Penn State University. Then yet again, Selena looked back at me, not as happy as she was before, but I was clapping for Demi. She has done so well and she deserves this. I hear my family cheering for her and her mom, I guess her dad didn't make it, but I'm not really surprised. The rest of the ceramony was short, until it was my turn to speak, "Now, for our speaker tonight, Nicholas Jonas. Nick moved here this year quickly making friends and it was a pleasure having him at our great school, will you please give a hand for Nicholas Jonas." I gave a deep breath and walked up on stage. And right when I got up on there, I noticed I forgot my notecards. "Well this is awkward, it looks like I forgot my note cards. Wow great! Whatever it was a bad speech anyway." I guess I'm just going to have to wing it.

"I was going to talk about how great this year was and how great everyone was but as you can see I'm not prepared, as usual at school. Isn't that right Mrs.Piper?" And then the audence laughed. 

"This school year was great, I met people I will never forget, I had my first love here," my eyes locked with Demis, "And I guess we all know how that turned out, haha. Anyway coming to this school was scary, I'm from a small town in jersey, it does not compare to California. But everyone here excepted me with arms wide open. Demi, Selena, Josh, Alex and so many of you, thank you for letting me in when I was just a scared kid. Damn, this was supposed to be long and I can't think of anything else." Everyone laughed again. "I don't know why I didn't get the class clown award, you're all laughing at my jokes." And then I looked at Demi again and this time I didn't take my eyes off of her,

"I went on a road trip with my best friend in the whole world in the middle of the year, and even though that was only for two weeks, it really opened my eyes. Being with her really changed me. To think in just a couple months, we will all be in college, forgetting all about this place, all we're going to have is the memory of what it was. Two weeks with my best friend seemed like just a blink in my life, but it wasn't. Two weeks in college is about 6 test, 3 papers and 4 books worth of work. What I'm trying to get at is, spend this summer with someone you love doing whatver you want because in a couple months, you might not have that opportunity unless you're going to the same school with that person, which I am." Then I looked around the audience and said, "Oh yeah, every ones welcome to my hosue after graduation, there will be food and um... Soda. ok that's it have a good life everyone." Everyone was clapping, Demi was crying, Selena looked pissed. But everyone was clapping, non of that made any sense but whatever, i guess it did to other people.

When I sat back down, the dean went up to the podium. "And with that, I will tellyou guys he is right, have a fun, safe life. I now grant you all graduates of 2014." And we all took off our caps and threw them in the air. I stood up and Selena came up to me, "Go to her Nick, you belong with her and this just showed me that. I always knew it though. Go run along, it looks like she is looking for you." And right then I saw her looking around for me. I walked up to her. "Demi, it's you. I fucking love you. You're the one I should be with. I love you so much it hurts." And right when I said that she kissed me, it seemed like slow-motion. "It's always been you Nicholas." Then Joe came up to me and patted me on the back. "Congrats little brother. Oh yeah, congrats on graduating too." I laughed and hugged him then Blanda. "Thank you for coming Blanda, it really means a lot."

A lot of kids came over to my house and we just had a good time with Demi on my arm the whole night. It was truley amazing. Nights like this is the reason why I enjoy living here.
