Nothing better like going back home-at least the home I built myself, for myself. I was right, it was such a wild journey back to the place I spent half of my life in. And it got through my head, that I acted naively. Yeah that just it. The answer to my worries. I arrived at JFk, with my Black berry ringing of the hook with delayed messages during my flight. Just enough to distract me and get me back on the right track.
Though it was a Sunday, and our office is closed, I called stacy and went to the shoot at the Vera Wang, with their top Asian beadwork designer Natasha Fang. Despite their busy season schedule they made time for our shoot and interview. As soon I was done, I went to the subway and rushed through Brooklyn for the street shoot for our cover story Rags to riches, entitled, from the b, to capital B. The story of how the Brooklyn stay at home mom now conquers north America with her accessories. And right after that I went for a four pm meeting with my team captains and informed them of the crucial future obstacles because of the earlier deadline. All day it was work, but when I got home, the LA adventures and more model maniac haunted me through voice mails.
"Heard you were out of town babe, give your Christian a call back when you get home. Totally missed you." Beep. Caller been blocked, says the machine.
"Its Jamie. Heard what happened will be back today evening, I'll bring mac n' cheese from your favorite Italian fast food." Beep
"Its mom, I can't believe you banned me from the bar, and why'd pussy out on Dav-" before she could go any further, I deleted the message.
"Hey its David-" There was a two second silence, I was lost. "What happened to you after the wedding was worried call me back." Beep. It was the longest beep I ever heard.
"Oh its me again David-I got your home number from the calling card you gave Candice, just saying before you jump into any conclusions." Beep. Damn it I hate how the universe can't just be on my side even for a day or two. All my effort for a distraction today-all gone.
More voice mails from work, Christian, mom and dad were sent in but I was completely elevated from the earth again. Why did David take my number? Why did he call me? Could the Show and tell Candice was blabbing about a desperate move to get my number? Who was the girl? Why were they staring at each other's eyes like that? Am I the second girl? Is he planning to collect girls in every state he can possibly go? My imagination on over ride. I had to abort this mission and take down all possible interactions.
Ding dong. My apartment bell rang. I peaked through the door it was Jamie, she was serious with the dinner take outs.
"Spill. Don't leave any details out." He said as she marched in my space. Heading towards the dining table.
As I recall every detail I can, she listend attentively voicing out her subconscious comments whenever she pleased. I let her hear the voicemail he sent me and continued to talk and ask her on what should I do if I encountered him. Her answer...
"First of all, stop over thinking. Keep it cool. If he asks answer limitedly, don't over talk and control yourself unlike what you're doing now. The less you talk the better."
Jamie's advice slapped me back on ground. I am Charlotte Copenhagen. And no man can ever messed with my mind. Then all the men I hated, and games, and expertise came back. I was back on fire.

The next day, I was at the office doing my regular work, Stacy updated me and reminded me of my meeting with the publisher by three pm later. The day went on smoothly, everybody was working their asses off.
2:45pm my phone rang
With my cheetah top, black leather pencil skirt and red pumps I walked to the conference room, as Stacy tried to catch up with me. Gasping for air she stopped me by walking and halting me to take any further steps, still inhaling and exhaling too much air, "Boss-there's a girl-named Candice looking for you." Still, recovering, "She needs to see you ASAP-quote and unquote."
