Stepping into her office that morning, a groggy Jessica livened up a little when she noticed a bottle of something on her desk. Approaching it slowly, she realized it was apple juice. Beside the adorable little bottle was a sticky note with a couple of sentences in squiggly handwriting. Slightly suspicious, she picked it up, lips promptly curling into a small smile as she read the words:
I love Mondays because Miss Jung always looks the loveliest. Wait, also Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Hehe. Are you smiling? :)
She dropped her bag onto the table and settled into her chair. Picking up the bottle, she examined it for a bit before unscrewing the cap and taking a small sip. Nodding in a rather satisfied manner, she turned to her laptop, brows arching at the sight of another sticky:
Check your email, Miss Jung. :)
Scoffing to herself, she muttered, “I always do, Im Yoona.” As she powered up her laptop almost excitedly, she took another drink from the bottle.
She logged into her account as soon as everything was up and running, swiftly clicking on the first message titled, “Surprise for Miss Jung”. Glancing through the instructions preceding some sort of weird link, she dutifully turned the volume of her speakers up.
Click.
A video popped up and played accordingly. First, a large, squishy teddy bear appeared, waving adorably, and then the words ‘I Love You’ flashed on and off several times.
Taking another mouthful of juice, Jessica leaned forward slightly, wondering why there was no sound.
All at once, a high-pitched voice squealed, “I LOVE YOU!”
Nearly choking herself, the woman slammed the laptop shut in a state of panic. Luckily she managed to not fall off her chair.
“Ugh,” She grabbed some tissues and dabbed at her mouth. That was quite a wake-up call. Well, at least she was energized now. Pulling out some files from one of the drawers, she prepared to get to work at once.
Just then, her phone buzzed. It was a text from Yoona:
Please make your way to the entrance of the office at once :)
There’s more?
Without hesitation, Jessica got off her butt and headed for the door. Halfway past the various desks, she saw the girl heading towards her with her hands behind her back.
Pairs of curious eyes were staring and it made the CEO feel kind of uncomfortable. With a questioning expression and hushed tone, she asked, “Is this really necessary? Could we talk in my--”
“Good morning, Miss Jung!” Yoona greeted cheerfully, ignoring all the attention she had attracted. She grinned from ear to ear and slowly revealed a bouquet of pink carnations, “These are for you.”
A few people went “aww” as the rest stared on in envy, all waiting for the woman’s reaction.
“I…”
“You should take them,” The girl laughed lightly, grasping Jessica’s hands and forcing the flowers into them.
“What’s the commotion? Wow…” Tiffany, who just entered the office, stopped short at the adorable sight. She noticed her best friend blushing furiously and added teasingly, “Cat got your tongue, Miss Jung?”
Turning an even darker shade of pink, the CEO cleared her throat and addressed the people staring, “Yah, back to work. That includes you, VP Hwang,” Everybody returned to minding their own business at once and Jessica turned to Yoona, “You… ugh, follow me,” Reaching for the girl’s hand, she grabbed it and led the way to her office.
“Are you mad at me?” The girl asked as soon as they were alone.
“Of course I’m mad at you.”
Lips forming a small pout, Yoona watched as the woman took her seat and set the bouquet down, “I was just trying to be romantic.”
“That teddy bear was really cute but you almost scared me to death, pabo,” Folding her arms across her chest, Jessica fumed, “I’m still wondering how that got past the company’s spam filter.”
“Ah. So you did receive the email, thank goodness. My plan worked. Anyway, I just wanted to make sure you could hear the words, pabo,” The girl played along, a delighted smile spreading across her lips again.
“Hmm… now that you mention it, I didn’t quite get the words. What were they?”
Yoona approached the desk instantly. Leaning forward slightly, she spoke slowly, “Saranghae. Was that clear enough?”
Cheeks heating up again, Jessica nodded shamefacedly, “Arasseo.”
“Now I wanna hear you tell me, Miss Jung.”
In a soft but firm voice, the woman declared, “I love you, too, Im Yoona.”
Those three simple words made the girl’s heart burst with joy. It was the first time Jessica had reciprocated so overtly, and it made her world complete.
With a bright smile, she continued, “Do you like the flowers?”
“They’re lovely. Thank you.”
It seemed things were going really well and Yoona was determined to make their journey together as enjoyable as can be.
Knowing that she had someone to call her own and someone to love with all her heart felt great. It was all new but it felt great. She had often wondered what it was like to be in love and now she knew.
She never liked the idea of belonging to just one person exclusively. Anything that had to do with commitment, she hated.
But that was history.
