Marvin was an idiot.

He stood huddled against his door, clutching a handful of his worn out hoodie, watching the snow plummeting to the ground. In any other situation, he would have been ecstatic- he loved snow.

But when he had to walk two and a half miles in it, he was less than happy.

Usually, he'd throw a fit. He had tried that this morning, kicking and screaming and throwing things around his parents house at six in the morning. But they had just sat there. His mother had watched him break vases and picture frames, and his father had flicked through the newspaper with a black coffee in hand.

They had stopped giving him attention.

So he had slammed the door as hard as he could, muttering to himself. He was 19 and couldn't drive? He was 19 and still lived with his parents?

Even to him, it sounded a little ridiculous.

He resolved to sulk instead, staying close to the door and giving his patents the silent treatment.

For a while, he just stood there, watching the pretty white flakes crash into the concrete. At least it was quiet. He let his thoughts drown him, beginning to mentally prepare himself to see Trina.

Even though they had broken up last Friday, it was still exhausting. She was still so...polite, but passive aggressive.

It was maddening.

He got bored quickly. Trina was nice enough, she always seemed happy, but she never satisfied him the way he wanted. Kissing her felt like kissing cardboard. They'd been together nearly two years. A few months prior, she had tried to...touch him.

It started out like most of the evenings he spent at her house. They sat, curled up, on the couch in the basement, watching a movie Marvin wasn't particularly interested in. He kissed Trina's head without thinking and she had turned and smiled. He had learned to hate that smile; it always meant she wanted to make out.

Marvin had learned he was broken. He didn't want to kiss his girlfriend like all the other boys at school wanted to kiss theirs, he didn't want to undo the buttons on her blouse-

He didn't want to touch her.

He didn't want her to touch him.

Regardless, she had persisted. Marvin let it happen for a while. He kissed and tugged and pretended he was enjoying it. In honesty, he had suddenly felt too nauseous to react.

Until Trina's long fingers started tugging on his zipper.

He shuddered at the memory. She hadn't tried to touch him since, anyway. But he could still imagine it, see her face, see her eyes full of betrayal.

He had simply told her that love isn't sex.

It was suddenly a lot colder, and Marvin's teeth had started chattering. Just as he had started to mumble about being alone, the door to his left clicked open.

Out stepped Whizzer Brown. He looked just as beautiful as ever, tall and smiling at the snow like he'd never seen it before. Marvin knew who Whizzer was- everyone did- but Whizzer Brown didn't know anyone. He claimed he didn't have time. That didn't stop the crowds of people that hung around him, didn't stop him being the most sought-after boy at Creighton Prep.
