And, now, a little bit of a rollarcoaster.

-

Whizzer very rarely liked to be wrong, but he hoped- as he sat and glared out the window, waiting for Marvin- that this was the exception.

Marvin had been acting odd. Not odd in a 'my wife wants me dead, my son hates me, and my therapist left me for my aforementioned wife' kind of way, but odd in a 'returning home from work at midnight, keeping secrets, and always being exhausted' kind of way.

It wasn't like Whizzer could blame him- he hated being called a hypocrite. He just wished that Marvin had spoken to him first. He hadn't slept around for months now, and he had assumed the same of his lover, but now he wasn't so sure. Was it him? He supposed he'd understand if it was, he knew what it was like to be bored in a relationship. But things had been going so well. He had become comfortable in the best way possible.

Other men were no longer objects of lust, he didn't crave a strangers touch. He forgot to spend money when they went out, often getting lost in the feeling of just /being/ with Marvin. They were perfect. He'd learned the difference between 'sex' and 'making love', too, which had to be what he was most proud of. Their relationship was no loner fulled by spite- no longer a game to be played and won- but it was pure, and gentle. Things were slower, and Whizzer loved it.

Whizzer loved Marvin.

But, apparently, that wasn't enough.

He guessed he should have seen it coming- Marvin had always been pretty blunt about wanting it all. He didn't know why he thought he was any different. And he didn't have the best track record when it came to monogamy, anyway.

So why did his heart lodge itself in his throat when he heard Marvin turning the key?

"It's 11:30." Whizzer stated pointedly, although he refused to let any emotion into his voice. He heard Marvin sigh as he hung up his disgusting jacket (at least he'd learned to hang up his clothes, finally).

"I know." Marvin replied gently. He recognized the distance in Whizzer's tone immediately and stepped over, planting a kiss on the crown of his head. "I'm sorry, sweetheart. Work ran late."

Whizzer had to fight a smile- head kisses were his weakness. But he had to focus, because the minute Marvin made him melt, he was in trouble.

"I didn't know 'Work' was such a popular name."

"What?" Marvin asked, spinning around with a frown. "What do you mean?"

"Oh, please, Marvin. If you wanted to sleep with other people, you could have just told me. A little warning is always nice."

"Sleep with....You think I'm-" Marvin stammered. He knew what Whizzer was accusing him of, but the thought was so disturbing, he had no idea how to react. "I'm not-"

"Save it." He snapped in reply, standing up and attempting to should his way past.

"Whizzer, I'm not /cheating on you/. I would never- I- I don't /do/ that."

"You did with Trina."

Marvin fell silent, his eyes falling to the ground. It was true- he'd cheated on Trina. But Whizzer was different. He loved him.

But that stung, and he knew he was close to being angry instead of baffled.

"I promise you, Whizzer, I would never cheat on you. Please, let me explain." Marvin pleaded, catching his wrist as he attempted to breeze past. He'd already fucked up their relationship once, he was not about to do it again.

Ever.

Whizzer should have yanked his hand away, but there was something about the look in Marvin's eyes that made him sit. He frowned and crossed his legs. The explanation had better be good- he wasn't about to let himself be wrecked.

As Trina had.

"I...." Marvin took a deep breath, sitting down with a heavy sigh. "I was given a promotion."

"What? Why didn't you tell me!" Whizzer demanded, folding his arms. "Promotions are good things."

"I know, I know, I should have told you. But there was a slight problem- the promotion was three states away. I-I knew you were comfortable here, and we're close t-to Jason, so I didn't want to make you move." Now he said it out loud, he felt better, and the tension dropped from his shoulders.

"You're an idiot, Marv." Whizzer stated pointedly. "We don't have to move. I was just...worried-"

"You thought I was cheating." Marvin finished for him. It was his turn to be icy. The Trina comment had been uncalled for.

"I...I did. I'm sorry, that was unfair." Whizzer said softly. He stood up and wrapped his arms around Marvin's shoulders, resting his chin on his head. "I was wrong to assume, I just- I'm sorry. Forgive me?"

Marvin wished he had the strength to resist him, but he melted at the touch. Instead of a verbal reply, he twisted around, placing a hand either side of Whizzer's lips. After a second of simple admiration, he pulled him into a sweet, chaste kiss.

"I'll take that as a yes," whispered Whizzer, smiling against Marvin's lips.
