Everyday was the same routine. Wake up, check around, hope you're safe then repeat. One day, I decided to I had enough. It was late autumn and soon to be winter. The heavy cannonball like snow will quickly exterminate a weakling like me. I needed to do something and fast. No one will adopt somebody like me at this time of year. For the first time in forever, I started thinking about the future of myself. I thought: I'll go into the center of town where there's more things to be found for a better chance of me surviving!
I stood up excitedly. Positive thoughts clouded my mind. No danger at all sensed. I was happy again. "I WILL SURVIVE!!!" I roared into the mist of clouds and dust. My body stance almost reframed the shape of a candy cane, arms wide open like I was giving the crisp air an mighty hug. A smirk appeared on my sorrowful face then I started to laugh quietly. I must have looked like an idiot on drugs from the outside.
"What in the name of the lord are you doing, kiddo?"
I turn around almost instantly and my eyes search in the mysterious fog for a body. All happiness erases from my brain.
"If you really wanna look like you are on drugs then I will happily give you some."
I'm starting to breathe harder and my heart beat accelerates in seconds. Please tell me it's just my imagination, there is no body or no one anywhere!
"Eyyy, well lookie 'ere it's a toddler!"
I can feel excited glares pounding on my back, my face and literally everywhere.
"Umm... Hello?!" I whisper softly as I slowly back away into the nothing.
Silence. Suddenly, a twig snaps. "Sh*t!" I hear someone mutter angrily. One's on the left. "Idiot!" The other hisses. The other behind me by a few meters. I push fear and anxiety to the side of my mind, then slowly start to step carefully to the right. They must have put some kind of obstacle or trap on the right and in front of me if they are only attacking from the left. But then again, they may have brought back up. Please let the fog be on my favour."Oi, where is the b*tch?" A third speaks.
He sounds confident, too confident.
Another twig snaps two meters away from me now. A body pounces at me like a tiger from the left.
So they have brought back up.
My timid feet swept me to the side just in time to dodge my ambush attack. A curtain of dust rises from the ground as the heavy frame slams against the dry ground. "F*ck!" It bellows. Here's my chance! I sprint towards the abandoned grave yard in which my mother was buried. Tears stream for my pale face as my black complexion waves in the tainted breeze.
"GET HER DUM*SS'!!!"
