Panting in panic, I heaved my myself over the tall, grey fence made of gradually crumbling bricks. The dull barbed wires knifed my tender skin and thick blood slowly oozed out of my body. A small cry escaped my lips when I landed heavily on the dead grass. Ouch! Quickly, I got up and ran towards the tombstones. The tall grass swayed in the fast rhythm of the wind. Bats flew across the tainted black sky. And dried leaves twirled around in small hurricanes, then rapidly landing on the ground. For a split second, everything was quiet again.
"HEY!" A man belted. I quickened my pace, my thighs aching more and more with every step. Then, my sight slowly turned hazy and my feet stuttered. As I collapsed on the earth, I did a side rolly-polly and stopped behind a decomposing spruce tree. I gasped for air quickly but quietly as I saw four figures climb over the wall and steadily land on the ground. I started trembling against my will and silent tears flood down my face. I NEED TO BE STRONG! I NEED TO BE STRONG!
"Where on earth did she go?"
"Like hell should I know, I just saw her climb over the wall."
"Maybe she wants to play hide 'n' seek." An overweight one mumbles while stuffing its mouth with a chocolate chop cookie.
A figure looks over in my direction and I tuck my head behind the tree immediately.
"Oi, are y' sure she climbed that wall, because if she didn't, you're dead to me." One says menacingly to another.
"Ye- I mean yes, capn' !" The one spoken to cries out. The so called 'capn' raises a bushy eyebrow and sighs, quite annoyed.
"We ain't leaving until y' idiots find her, so move it before she escapes!"I gulp. Oh no oh no oh no oh no... The figures scatter into different directions, not one teams up with the other. A black cat springs into the air from some tall grass near an ancient gravestone and a skinny figure plunges it to the floor like his life depended on it. You could almost hear his bones rattle from the force in which he landed. A loud and long screech is heard as the cat wails and the man immediately shields his left eye.
"DARN CAT!!!" The man bellows as he picks the cat up by its two back legs, then flings it into a half dead bush. A teeny tiny black and ginger figure as small a tennis ball wobbles after the black cat and its small cries disperse into the mist. A kitten? The skinny man takes several deep breaths as if he knows he is going to snap any second and turn into some crazy cannibal. His eyes turn to the little figure. A creepy smile stretches across his bony face and his chest moves up and down as if he is silently laughing. Then a chuckle echoes from inside his body like a voice echoing inside a deep cave. Silence. Quiet hysteric laughter. Silence. Louder hysteric laughter. Silence. Then he starts to laugh hysterically again, but this time it's sounds uncontrollable and booms within the walls of the graveyard. His teammates remain stationary, their bodies facing the ways in which they were meant to be searching for me, their heads tilting to the sketchy skinny man. All silent and emotionless. His arm shakes rapidly as he reaches down to grab the innocent kitten, the creepy smile still placed on his face. Run kitten! His almost meatless fingers slowly wrap around the kittens waist. Feeling a sense of panic, the kitten cries for its mothers protection. But how could the mother protect its child when it was already dying from hunger and it's two back legs were broken. Helpless, anxious, terrified cries were exchanged between the mother and child. I sat there behind the tree in horror. This situation was kind of like my own my separation from my mother caused by murder. The only difference is that I wasn't there to see my heartbroken mothers face as she was killed knowing that I will be unprotected from danger . Like in the cats' situation, but my prediction is that none will make it out alive.
The kitten wails will all its might. The skinny man was laughing inside again. Everything slowed down. I could feel my mind demanding that I go help save the kitten, but I don't have the guts to do that!
Brain: Do you want to repeat the past?
Me: NO! But I'm scared...
Brain: Are you a wuss?
Me: I am not a wuss!
Brain: Then..?
Me: B-but!
Brain: Wuss.
Me: Pfft, this is not the time to be like this!
Brain: Then what the heck are you still doing!?!?
Me: I'm paralyzed.
Brain: MY BUTT YOU ARE!
me: STOP SHOUTING AT ME!
Brain: Then here's an idea, HELP THE KITTEN YOU WUSS!The man started to squish the kitten, squeezing harder every second. The kitten cried and wailed and groaned and screeched with a higher pitch as it was squeezed more and more. My body swung itself into the open about ten meters from the man. "STOP!" I shouted.
"Well well well, looks you have a hero you stupid cat"
