Drip. Drip. The water faucet leaked as the man stared at himself in the mirror, talking on the phone.
"Dude. She looked so hot tonight, but she wouldn't put out. Yeah, I know! What a slut. That's what I said too. Yea. No." He stopped talking, hearing a creak in the hallway.
"Yeah, I'll call you back."
He hesitantly walked out into the dark hallway, looking around for the source of the noise. He felt as if someone was watching.
Suddenly, there was a sharp pain in his chest. He never saw who killed him"Buzz. Buzz."
Christine and Michael's conversations was unexpectedly interrupted by Christine's phone going off. She awkwardly smiled and looked on her phone to see who had texted her. ( As it is always awkward to check texts in the middle of a conversation.)
Lola: Hey C, school closed for next week
Lola: bc of kyah and maria obviously
Christine: Yeah, yea I know. Kinda got an email earlier today.
Lola:come over sis
Christine: at mikes rn, maybe later?
She knew Lola would be throwing a fit just because Christine said no, yet she wanted to stay at least a little longer.
"Who was that?" Michael asked, now absentmindedly staring at whatever was on the TV.
"Oh, just Lola, being as obnoxious as ever," Christine laughed, they had both met Lola at the same time at the college. They had been bestfriends ever since.
Michael chuckled, taking the TV remote and began flipping through the channels.
"New victim in the college killings. Sources say that a 20 year old college student, Earl Ross, was found murdered in his apartment when his roommate found him. This is all we have at the moment, we will update when more is released."
Christine's head was spinning. How can my ex turn up dead? Things didn't end well for her and Earl, but she couldn't possibly imagine him ever being murdered.
"Christine!" She was suddenly snapped backed to reality by a nudging. She stared at her boyfriend with wide eyes, her breaths getting faster and more shallow by the second. Michael could see the sheer panic in her eyes, and knew exactly what she was thinking.
"Come on babe, it's a coincidence. Don't beat yourself up over it. He treated you badly and you broke up, and never spoke again. It's not your fault he's dead." She knew what he was saying was true, but all laws of logic were gone. Nevertheless, she composed herself and acted like everything was fine.
"I know Mike, I just got freaked out. I'm gonna head out though, see you tomorrow." And with a quick peck on the cheek, Christine left, heading to Lola's, because Lola was the only one that could possibly understand.Christine: omw see u in 5
Lola: see u then xxLola's apartment was always a mess, pizza boxes and beer bottles astray. However, when Christine walked in, it looked like a home magazine. Lola walked out of the kitchen to greet her.
"What's up?"
"What's up witch your place? I can actually see your floor," to that Lola chuckled and set down her can of coke.
"Had my boyfriend over, so I decided to clean the place up a bit." Christine was shocked, the Lola she knew would never clean just for some boy.
"Wait who?" Lola smiled and pressed her finger up to her lips, as if to say it was a secret. Christine rolled her eyes, and playfully pushed Lola. Traveling to the couch, they began gossiping about everything. Friends, enemies, and drama were all apart of their conversation.
"Did you hear about Earl? I can't be the only one who doesn't think that's a coincidence right? I mean Kyah, Maria, and him? That's like your top enemy list." Christine tensed up by the comment, the air seemed to get cold. What if it's all connected to her? She thought for a moment, and shook the thought out of her head.
"I'm not sure, Lola. What would anyone want from me?" Christine sighed, she was getting nowhere worrying about pointless things.
"What if they wanted you?" Lola wiggles her eyebrows and laughed, earning a yelp from Christine.
"Shut up!"
