chapter 1

"yah, linlin.." I heard a familiar voice speaking out to me. I opened my eyes to see my manager staring down at me as I was sprawled across the couch in my practise room. OH SHIT, did I oversleep?

"Did I oversleep?"
"No, but you're going to be late for the meeting if you remain like this," Manager Lee scolded, referring to my current position on the couch.
I groaned, slithering off the couch to get up. It's WAY too early. WAY too early for me to function. And the fact that I only got 3 hours of sleep last night makes things even worse. Why? Because of my job.

I work as a full-time model for a company called NOWmodels and I've been doing nothing but late night fashion shows for the past week. Luckily, yesterday was our last show, but apparently there's this announcement they have for us and it just had to be at 7 am in the morning.

As soon as we reached, I made my way up to the conference room as fast as I could so I could be just on time.
"Ah yes, Zhenlin, please take a seat, we'll start shortly." My boss gestured me to the seats.

I sat down next to my closest friend, Meiyu.
She was my very first friend ever since I joined this company and my source of happiness and comfort—my best friend actually.

"What do you think they've got to say?" Meiyu leaned over and raised her eyebrows, munching on her favourite potato chips.
I shrugged. Hopefully not something bad.

I tried sneaking my hand into her bag of chips, only to be caught. She smacked my hand away, "Yah, these are mine."

She's such a greedy bitch,
But I still love her.
Everyone took a seat and soon enough, the meeting started.

"Good morning girls,"

no answer.
Because we were all half dead.

"Yeah, okay, whatever," Our boss scoffed, flipping through his files, "So as you all know, our agency has been allies with Victoria Secret for a period of time,"

Everyone nodded.
Wait...
Is this where I think it's going? Please say yes.

"The CEO of Victoria Secret has deeply thought it through and has hand picked 3 models to walk for their shows when they come to Korea next week,"

Everyone gasped in shock and excitement.
SHIT. SIGN ME THE FUCK UP.
It was all of our desires to be picked by Victoria Secret after being allies with them for nearly 2 years now. It was about god damn time they did something like this.

But who?

"First model will be...Kim Ariel." Our boss revealed.

All of us cheered and clapped for our lucky colleague. Please lord, I'm sorry for all my sins, please let me into this great opportunity, I swear up to the god of good heavens I will do my b-

"YAH, LIN!" Meiyu smacked me.
What does this bitch want?
"WHAT?" I shouted back in annoyance, only to realise my boss looking straight at me from the front.

"You were day dreaming, Zhenlin, you've been picked to walk for the shows." Boss explained.
Oh...
OH...
OHHHHHHHHHHH.....

"JINJA?" I screamed, giving a fright to many of the models sitting around me.
"And Meiyu," Meiyu immediately stopped eating. "You too,"

Meiyu dropped her bag of chips and looked at me in shock. YES! the both of us got in. FUCK YES! I threw myself onto her, hugging her tight.
Everyone congratulated the three of us. It felt so surreal, considering the fact that we were chosen out of 20 models. I start dancing a victory dance and Meiyu stops me, "okay, no, don't do that," She started to cringe.

"The three of you will be taking part in a total of 5 their shows, so do prepare yourselves well, this is a big thing."

The three of us nod.
"And there will be a Korean pop boy group coming to perform for all the shows, so please calm yourselves down or you'll chase them away," Boss added.
All of us laughed.
We all knew whenever it came to guys, we were all very wild and open.

Flashback

"Oh my cheese sticks," Meiyu held her hand at her chest.
"What?" Everyone looked at her weirdly. What's up with her?
"Hottie in the block," She pointed to a hot guy standing at the gantry of the train station.
Everyone gasped at the sight of such a good looking guy.

"MY, MY , MY, COME TO MAMA,"
"HOTTIE COME HERE!"
"WHATS YO NAME LIL MAN"
"WEEEWWWWW WEWWWWW" (that whistle sound)

Before we knew it, we had chased him away.

Flashback ends

Yeah, we act more like guys trying to chase girls.

Boss announced a few more working attachments for the rest and when that was done, everyone rushed home, except me and Meiyu who were taking our time to leave as we were about to go have brunch together.

"Can't believe it," She sighed.
"Can't believe what?"

"How both of our lives changed so drastically just because of our jobs,"
It's true.

Ever since I came to Korea to continue growing my modelling career, my life has changed so much. I used to just be a small little ambitious girl living in a farm, feeding the farm animals daily and helping my grandparents harvest plants, but now? I'm living in a city area, going for photoshoots and company launches almost every week. It's tiring and it makes me just pause and wonder how my family is doing back at home. I really miss them. I miss my old childhood friends too, if I can even remember who they are...

"Let's continue to work harder, meimei." Meiyu smiled. I smiled back.
"Anyways, about that Kpop group," She continued as the both of us took a seat inside a cafe, "I heard it some group called Wanna one,"

"Want a what?"
"Wanna one."
"Wa...na won?"

"YaH, PABO!" Meiyu typed it out on her phone and showed it to me.
OHHHHH Wanna one...what a weird name..
"And how did you know about this?"
"I heard them talk about it just now,"

Typical Meiyu.. so nosy.
"I heard there's only one chinese member in there," She added, flipping through the menu for the millionth time. Yah, is she actually looking at the dishes?
"Wow, so interesting." I sarcastically commented, now paying more attention to decide what I wanted to order.

"People say he's very y'all and quite cute.."

okay, good to know.

"I think his name was something like Lai G-"
"Meiyu, if you don't shut up and quickly decide what you want to eat, I will order you a salad."

Meiyu closed her mouth and quickly flipped the menu open again.

Eating is more important. Always.
anyways, why would I care about boys? I like girls.
