Dear reader,
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Jadyn Ember Robinson, but call me that and you better believe that I'll bite your head off. If you're not up for decapitation, I suggest you call me Jade. I'm fifteen years old and I live with my adoptive parents, Susan and Eric in Bathurst, New Brunswick. Yes, Canada. No, I don't live in an igloo, nor do I have a pet polar bear. And I don't know Bob and Wendy from up north, though I'm sure they're very nice people.
There, now that we've got the stereotypes covered, let's continue.
From the view of an outsider, one may assume that everything is handed to me on a silver platter. Though that might be somewhat true now, I didn't always have it this easy. The luxurious life that I've been granted with makes it quite simple to forget the troubled past I've had to experience.
I grew up without a father. I've never been told what exactly became of him, but then again, I guess I've never asked. I've never spoken to him, seen pictures of him, or heard stories of what he was like. I don't even know his name. However, if he's anything like my mother, I'd rather not know him. My mother's selfishness is the reason I was first put into adoption. She hated me. When I used to live with her, she would constantly remind me of how I burdened her. I haven't had any contact with her for over nine years, and I couldn't be happier about it.
I think this might be a bit too much information to digest all at once, so I'll slow down a bit. You'll learn more about my mother as well as my screwed up past in due time, just be patient. Now, sit back and relax because here comes my story.
Sincerely,
Jade
