'3 more minutes' I twisted a loose curl around my finger tightly as I sighed, counting down the minutes. '2 more' The rhythmic ticking of the clock hanging on the wall teased me '1 more' I chewed on the end of my pencil and watched the hand on the clock tick slowly. A loud ringing rang through the quiet classroom. Kids began chattering and shuffling around desks and out of the door. I shoved my books in my bag walked out of the classroom into the bustling halls. I wove through the people that I had grown to hate in the past three years. I was the loner, the outcast, cliche I know but sadly true. I've never really liked people and honestly I wouldn't want to be friends with these people. My twin brother Charlie always had a lot of friends, he was my parents favorite because he was just like them. Just less snotty and stuck up.
"Hey, Cordelia right?" I looked over at the person who had stopped me right outside the school doors.
"Yeah, Can I help you?" She seemed familiar but I couldn't remember her or her name.
"My name is Emma, I'm a friend of Charlie's" I fought back the urge to roll my eyes because I knew that my manwhore brother wasn't just 'friends' with this girl.
"Oh, okay do you need anything or?" I asked in an annoyed tone as I rubbed my temple.
She kept her fake smile plastered on "Yeah, I was wondering if maybe you and Charlie wanted to come to my party later tonight" Parties had never been my thing and I had never got invited to one, My brother was the party animal not myself.
"I know Charlie will most likely be there, but I'm not interested, Thanks anyway though." I shot her a fake smile and began walking down the steps.
"Cordelia, please it would make me so happy if you came." I stopped in my tracks and sighed as I turned around and gave her a half smile.
"I'll think about it."
"Great, I'll see you there." She smiles, her groups laughter echoing as I took my leave from them.
FRIDAY MAY 27TH 8:29 P.M. (Later that day)
"Charlie, I don't want to go to that stupid party." I said as my eyes slowly scanned the words in the book I was reading. I highlighted a few verses in it as I became increasingly annoyed by the nagging my brother was doing.
"Oh come on Deels! It'll be fun!" He said as he stood inside my door frame, leaning against it with a smile on his face.
I looked up from my book and stared at him for a moment. I shut my book and sat it down beside me on my nightstand.
"Why do you want me to go to this party so bad Charlie?" I said throwing my legs over the side of my bed, my toes dangling over my shag carpet as I looked up at him quizzically.
