Hi! Thanks for clicking on this story! It's the first proper one I've ever written so please forgive me if it sucks :)
- Soph☀️

"Luna!" I hear my Aunt Jamie yell from downstairs, "Are you almost ready to leave?"

"Yeah!" I yell back as I check my appearance in the bathroom mirror and sigh as I notice a giant yellow paint stain on my hoodie. "I'll be right down!"

As soon as I go downstairs I see Jamie rushing to put on her boots. "Hurry up and put on your shoes! You don't want to be late for your first day of school, do you?"

"Ugh, no, I'm hurrying!" I say, grabbing my tennis shoes.

As soon as I put them on and finish tying them, I jog to the car and meet Jamie there.

The entire car ride is silent, which I'm fine with, as I'm too busy thinking about how I'll probably do something extremely embarrassing and have everyone instantly hate me as soon as I start my first class.

Once we get there, I say goodbye to Jamie and leave the car.

Here we go, I think to myself with a scowl on my face, as I pull my schedule out of my backpack.

Okay... First period... Art... Room 37.

I smile. I'm happy to see that. I love to draw and I like to think I'm pretty good at it, although I don't really like doing it in school. I always compare myself to other people, which kinda ruins the fun of it.

It takes me a while, but I'm able to find my class before the bell rings (thank god).

As soon as I walk in, the teacher notices me and motions for me to come over to his desk.

"Hey! You're... Luna right?" he says, checking a piece of paper, "I'm Mr. Roberts, nice to meet you!"

"You too," I say quietly.

"You can just take a seat anywhere," he says with a smile.

I look around and almost every seat is taken so I'm forced to sit down in the second row, next to a few boys who are loudly talking about some 'cRAZY' party they had over the weekend.

A girl is sitting in front of me, by herself and not talking to anyone.

A potential friend? Probably not...

I'm suddenly pulled out of my thoughts as the bell rings. Mr. Roberts gets up and starts talking about the rules of the classroom. After that, he starts taking roll and I patiently wait for my name to be called.

"S- Solis Fletcher?" he calls after about five names.

Silence...

"Solis Fletcher?" He calls again.

"SOL!" almost everyone in the room yells.

"Hm? Oh! Sorry! I'm here!" The girl in front of me says, taking a short break from doodling on her hand with a sharpie, "and uh, I go by Sol."

"Got it." Mr. Roberts says with a chuckle.

After calling a few more names, he finally calls mine.

"Luna Maxwell?"

"Here," I say quietly.

With that, the girl in front of me (or Sol, I guess), turns around to look at me and gives me a grin. Then she turns back around and starts drawing on her hand again.

Uhh okay...

About an hour later, the bell rings, which I'm very thankful for. We didn't do any art today. All we did was listen to Mr. Roberts drone on and on about art terms. Since when do teachers actually start teaching us stuff on the first day of school!? I hope none of my other classes are like that.

After pulling my schedule out of my backpack and getting up, that girl, Sol comes up to me.

"Hey," she says with a smile "What's your next class?"

She's kind of adorable to be honest... She has light brown, curly hair, cut into a bob and pulled back from her face with two colorful barrettes, one yellow and one pink. Her skin is a dark olive and she has pretty hazel eyes...

Wow, I don't even know her and I already know she's totally perfect.

"Hello...?"

Shit I've been caught staring.

"Oh, sorry... English in room 42", I say trying to shake my gay thoughts away.

"Oh cool, me too! Wanna walk there together?" she asks with a smile, "You're new right? I don't remember seeing you last year."

"Uh, sure I'll walk with you. And yeah, I am new. I just moved here from California."

"Oh wow! I've always wanted to go there! Is it warm?"

"Yeah, I guess... Er, not to be rude but, why are you talking to me? You seem nice, don't you have friends you'd rather talk to?"

"Yeah, I do have other friends but I want to talk to you! You seem cool." she shrugs, "Also, my name means 'Sun' in Latin and yours means 'Moon'! So, I guess we're meant to be friends!"

"Um... okay," I laugh.

Maybe she really is a potential friend?

So that was the first chapter. I hope you like it so far! I honestly have no idea what I'm doing soooo.... We'll see where this story goes lol
