Lonely Winter

PART 9

Rania rushed to the hospital and straight to the counter information.

"Uhm.. i'm looking for a patient named Danny Wales." Rania asked the nurse while still trying to breath normally.
"I'm sorry but he is with our cancer specialist at Ward Rose. You can't be there ,Miss. since it's....Miss!!" before the nurse had the chance to finish her words, Rania ran to the ward mentioned. The nurse quickly follow Rania to prevent her from causing any disturbance when the specialist was working.

"I'm sorry but i need to meet Danny." Rania told the nurses while rubbing her tears. Rania need to meet her lover before it's too late. He needs to know that she loves him too. He needs to know that his love is not wasted. Rania accepted his love with all of her heart. Danny needs to know that!

RANIA'S P.O.V

When It's only 10 more steps for me to arrive in front of the ward, i see 3 Doctors walked out from the ward. My steps slowed down to hear their conversation.
"We need to tell his relatives about this sad news" the doctors take off the plastic hair cover and gloves and together and were about to walk away when Rania called out their position (doctors).

"What's wrong with him? He's okay? The treatment went well,right?" Rania asked with her tears started to create a pond in her eyes.
"Are you one of his relatives?" one of the doctor asked for confirmation before giving the information.
"I'm his friend." Rania asked and waited eagerly to know about Danny.
"I'm sorry ,Miss. We told him already that the chances of survive are only 10% after the tumor has removed. But he insisted on doing so. His tumor was way too big that my team failed to take it out without effecting his brain. We're sorry for our weakness, and we're sorry to say,we failed to save your friend." The doctors bowed slightly and leave Rania crying there.

A few nurses take out a patient stretcher out from the ward. And Rania knows, it is Danny. Rania stops the nurses from taking Danny's body to the mortuary room.

"Oh, no Danny please. Don't do this to me. Don't leave me. Please...wake up. I need to tell you something, the thing...you wanna hear the most....so please....wake up....please." Rania sobbed and struggle to speak each words. Seeing Danny didn't respond to any of her appeal break her heart into million pieces. All she can see is the soulless Danny.

Not knowing why, the nurses who are watching Rania crying, also burst into tears.

"Please, Danny....wake up....i love you...i love more than you do...please...don't leave me like this.." Rania cry as much as she can and wailing non-stop. Her cracked voice makes the other's hearts who are watching burst into tears even more.
"Danny..Pleaasseee...."Rania shake Danny's body with the hope that Danny will wake up.

One of the nurse step forward and stop Rania from doing so.
"I'm sorry, Miss but he need to go to the mortuary room for further treatment to his body. I'm so sorry Miss. I hope you can be strong." The nurse hold Rania's body away from Danny while the other nurses continuing their jobs to take Danny's body to the mortuary room.

Rania can't hold her tears anymore and cry out loud. The nurse who is holding her just now tried to calm her down and hug her tight.
"God loves him even more. Be strong, Miss" The nurse said while rubbing the back of Rania's weak body.
"I... i..didn't.....(sob sob)...i'm guilty towards him.....i .....make him...wait ....it's all my fault..." Rania sobbed, wail,cry and express everything inside of her heart .....but she knew..everything was too late now.

Danny was no longer there to hear her confession.

Far away from her, there was a man watching her since she entered the hospital.Looking at the girl that he loves cry for another man was indeed broke his heart. But he need to be ready to accept the reality. The man walked closer to Rania and the nurse who was hugging her noticed him and slowly broke the hug.
"Nia." The man spoke . Rania turned her head back and see the man that is , her husband, Jack.

"I know it's not the right time yet, but,..." Jack tried to explain but his words cutted by Rania.
'You know about his illness, but you don't tell me about it?Why?" Rania hold tight to the edge of the chair, trying to endure the pain in her heart.Anger and sadness.
" Because he didn't want me too. Plus, he prevent me from giving this to you." Jack take out a big brown envelope from his bag and put it on the table.

Rania grabbed it hard and read the content.Divorce agreement.

"He said, if you still love me, you won't sign it. But if you didn't, he asked me to make you sign it.Don't get it wrong. He once told me this. 'Let Rania choose her own happiness.' If my presence only brings up bad memory to you, then please sign it. I can't bear watching you suffer just because of me.I don't want to force you anymore just to fulfill my greediness.It's up to you, now. I'll respect your decision."
