Hermione Granger was stressed, pressurized by her on-coming Transfiguration exam. She'd been revising for hours, even though in her head she knew that she'd pass with flying colours, she relented. Hold up in the back corner of the library, she carried on revising, albeit reluctantly. She had other things on her mind, she had a life you know. One of the biggest obstacles towards her revision was her red-headed boyfriend, Ronald Weasley. He hadn't spoken to her in three days! Her, who had done nothing wrong, her, who had been nothing but loyal, her, who had been so patient with him, so kind! But she had got nothing in return.

Another boy plaguing her thoughts, was Draco Malfoy. The boy had been nothing but kind to her recently, which ultimately confused her. He had spent most of his life being nothing but cruel to her, and now she had some of the most intellectually stimulating and interesting conversations. It shocked her, just how much she enjoyed his company, it was positively mental. That was why, when he'd come up to her in the library she didn't protest. "Hey, Hermione." he smiled.

"Hey," she replied, smiling back at him. She didn't notice until it was already happening, but she smiled at him a lot recently. "Need any help revising for Transfiguration?" She asked politely.

"Nah," he replied casually, "just thought you could use the company, you've been back here revising for hours." He teased, and she laughed.

"Stalking me, are you?" she joked, and he put on a fake shocked expression.

"Who? Me? Never." He laughed again, and inched closer to her slightly. She barely noticed, but it made all the difference to him.

The pair sat in silence for a while, not an awkward one, but a comfortable silence. She needed to revise, he needed to do his potions essay, but they were content sat in each others company. Neither minded the silence, but were both slightly amazed that after five days of a truce they were this comfortable around each other. He had never felt so content to just sit silently before, and she was just amazed at how fitting it all seemed.

"Hermione," he coaxed, "It's dinner time, we need to go." he said, but she didn't want to leave, not yet at least. She finished writing her sentence, there was no way she'd leave that undone, and started to pack away. They both picked up their bags, and headed towards the Great Hall. They walked into the hall together, laughing at him tripping over a dropped Potions book and didn't notice the odd stares they were receiving.

Hermione wandered over to the Gryffindor table and took a seat next to Ginny. "You all alright?" She asked Harry, Ginny and Ron whilst smiling sweetly.

"No, I'm bloody well not alright." Ron hissed, looking at her disgustedly.

"Oh? You're talking to me now?" She quipped back.

"Maybe I would have talked to you sooner if you weren't running around giggling like a lost puppy at Malfoy. Malfoy, of all people Hermione!" He complained loudly, causing most of Gryffindor table to look at them.

"Draco, and I are just friends. As I have explained to you many times, Ronald."

"Of bloody course you are! Friends who do what? Shag in the back of the library?" At this point, Ron was just being cruel and untruthful and in all honesty, it hurt her feelings.

"Ron, that never happened. Just shut up." She demanded and he ignored.

"We're over, Hermione. I will not have you shagging a death eater behind my back, you fucking slag!" He shouted at her, and everything went silent.

"Fine," she muttered, "Get the fuck out of my face."

And that was at he did, Ron stormed out of the Great Hall in a rage and Hermione was left in the middle of the gossiping and conspiracies. Harry and Ginny had tried to apologize for him, tried to excuse his actions but they all knew it was futile. What he'd said had hurt her, made her feel inferior and they all knew that the friendship would never be the same.

That didn't stop Hermione from being upset. She wasn't even fully sure why she was upset, she didn't love him and she knew that. Hermione had never been in love with him, but still loved him dearly as a brother and best  friend. In all honesty, her heart was broken at the very idea he thought so lowly of her. But it didn't matter, she had things to do, and she would live.

-

"He never deserved you, I hope you know that." Draco said quietly, but she heard.

"Thank you." Hermione replied, and he smiled.

It was their turn for patrols that night, and she was scared to say she didn't regret not cancelling her patrols. He was kind and polite about everything, and she missed that. She'd missed having someone just care about her. Not defending Ron like Harry and Ginny, but making sure she was okay.

"You're too nice for your own good." She said, and he laughed.

"We both know that's not true," he laughed, and now she smiled for the first time during this patrol.

"But you are," she replied "Your sweet, and your funny and you genuinely care about how I am and how I feel. It's kind of nice to be cared about, isn't it?"

He laughed, but there was no humor behind it,  "I suppose it would be comforting, yes."

"You don't need to suppose," She smiled as he looked at her perplexed. "I care about you."

He smiled back at her, and reached out to hug her. She warmed to his touch, and he pulled her in, his hand dancing and stroking around her back comfortingly. She pulled away, and his arm was still around her waist. His face, inches from hers, their breaths mingling.

"We shouldn't do that," she whispered when she noticed him looking lustfully at her lips.

"I know," he replied softly, but how he wished he didn't.

"I don't want you too feel like some rebound." She stated firmly, but still made no attempt to leave his embrace. "We really shouldn't do this," she said again, but with less force.

"Even though I really want too?" He asked, putting his hand under her chin and pulling her face up so she looked him in the eye.

"You want me?" she asked incredulously.

"Of course, anyone in their right mind would."

"Then take me," she breathed shaking her head slightly, her entire resolve melting away, and he pulled her in.

It started out gently, innocent and sweet. It was like the stars had aligned, everything just felt right. The way she wrapped her arms around his neck. The way he clung to her like his life depended on it. He brushed his tongue over her lips, begging and pleading for entry. She obliged. The soft kiss became a passionate one, and he pushed her towards the wall of the corridor.

She felt the wall hit her back, but ignored it. She felt the bliss of the kiss running through her veins, and decided not to ignore that one. She let out a small moan, and felt him smile at it. She smiled back, and they pulled away. Foreheads touching, and the both of them smiling contently. "I'll talk to you tomorrow, yeah?"

She nodded, and they both wandered towards their dorm-rooms, feeling something that could at best be described as Heaven on Earth.
