Chapter eight

Chapter eight:

I immediately kiss him back, I jump on him and wrap my legs around his waist but then pull away.

"I don't understand..."

"I know, I know but I will explain later, but for now..." He leans in again.

"No Peeta tell me now because you are making it worse if you are just gonna leave me again" I tell him "was it what I said about the

people being in our business thing because as long as I have you I don't care about that"

"No it's not about what you said, it's about what I said" he says.

"I don't understand where you are going with this..."

"I told you I was gonna protect you from that, from the Capitol and the school and everyone..."

"No, don't ever do that again I..." I am interrupted.

"Katniss I only did it because I love yo-"

"Then why didn't you say it back, when I told you" I say stubbornly.

"You have no idea how depressed it made me to think about us... Not being together. You have no idea how much self control it took

not to immediately say it back, but I couldn't say it and expect you to believe me later you know about... Leaving"

I am so confused, I don't care if people know as long as I have my Peeta we can get through it together. I have started to cry. Peeta

wipes away the tears and wraps his arms around me.

"I lo-love you" I say quietly.

"And I love you, but listen I have a plan were we can both be happy, but first I am gonna make lunch for my love" he says walking to the

kitchen. He cooks me this vegetable broth and bakes cheese buns, my favorite.

"Alright" I say pushing away the empty bowl "what is this plan of yours?"
