We sat in Scotts room all afternoon talking. We talked a lot about Stiles and lacrosse and school and our mothers. Scotts a bit like me really. His dad walked out on his mum like my dad. But my dad left my mum for some younger chick. I've never had the courage to ask Scott why his dad left. Stiles only has one parent too. Except unlike me and Scott he has his dad. His mum died of cancer when we were 10. We kept talking till it became really late.
"I should probably go now." I said getting up off the floor.
"Yeah it's pretty late and we have school tomorrow." Scott said walking towards his bedroom door.
I opened my mouth to speak but was shushed by Scott.
"Did you hear that?" he asked.
"No." I replied.
"I think there's someone outside." he said grabbing the bat by his door.
"Your mum?" I asked hoping it was her and not someone trying to break in
"Shes working till late tonight." he said walking down the stairs quietly.
We crept towards the front door and I heard the noise Scott was talking about. It sounded like someone was trying to get onto the roof. Scott opened the door and tip-toed out, bat at the ready. Someones upperbody swung down from the roof and Scott almost swung at it till he realised who it was.
"Stiles?" Scott asked incredulously.
"Whats with the bat?" Stiles asked pointing at the bat.
"I thought you were a predator." Scott shrugged lowering the bat. "Why didn't you just knock on the door?"
"You weren't answering your phone." he said jumping down off the roof.
"I was busy." Scott answered looking back at me.
"Lily?!?!" Stiles exclaimed noticing me in the shadows.
"Stiles!" I said hugging him.
"Oh I missed you so much. I thought I was never gonna see you again!" he said hugging me tightly.
"Yeah me too." I said. "Hey Stiles. You know the saying about squeezing the life outta someone? I dont think it means you can do that!"
"Sorry." he said letting go and stepping back looking at the ground.
"Stiles why are you here?" Scott asked dragging my attention back to the fact that we are all on Scotts front porch at night.
"Okay look I know its late but you've got to hear this!” Stiles said. “I saw my dad leave 20 minutes ago, dispatch called and they're brining in every officer from the Beacon Department, even State Police.”
“For what?” Scott asked.
"Two joggers found a body in the woods!" Stiles said.
"A dead body?" Scott asked.
"No a body of water!" Stiles said sarcastically. "Yes dumbass a dead body!"
"You mean like murdered?" I asked.
"Nobody knows yet. Only that it was a girl in her twenties." Stiles said looking at me.
"Hold on. If they found the body then what are they looking for?" Scott asked.
"That’s the best part!" Stiles said a little too excitedly. "They only found half!"
Oh my god thats disgusting. I thought.
"We're going!” Stiles said looking at Scott.
"Well you guys have fun with that!" I said walking past Stiles towards my car.
