I watch my Mum as she lies in the hospital bed. Her skin was pale and small body laid perfectly still under the white covers.

I'm sitting on the chair beside her bed, I place my hand on hers and rest my head down.

I've been here for around 3 hours now. My Aunty left a little while ago. She was feeling too guilty to stick around. As she should.

My eyes start to droop. I'm so tired. I think I'm just going to sleep a little.

-.-.-

I dream.

I dream I'm running through a field of flowers. There are no clouds in the sky. Just pure blue above me.

My white dress flows around my legs. My blonde curls dance in the wind. A smile is on my face.

My feet take each step on the soft grass and flowers underneath me. The sun shines down on my skin, creating a glow.

I stop running and fall back in to the flowers. I lay with my arms out, wrapping my fingers around the long grass and beautiful long white flowers.

Everything feels amazing, I close my eyes and listen to the sound of the light wind going through the field. It sounds heavenly.

I enjoy the moment for a little longer until someone is calling my name.

"Delilah!" I hear it again.

I open my eyes to see I'm in the hospital room. I already miss my dream.

My best friend Josie is standing in the room.

"Hey, I heard what happened and came as soon as I found out." She says. "I was here earlier but only family were allowed in."

"Are you okay?" She asks. I stand up out of the chair and stretch my arms. I look down at my Mum and shake my head. There's no point lying to her.

I think back to the dream and how I wish it was where I was right now. I really dislike reality.

She hugs me and doesn't say anything else until I speak up.

"Does Adam know?" I ask.

"Yeah, I texted him." She says. "He said he will come see you after football practice." I look at the time. 4.12. Which means he will be here in around an hour since he finishes at 5.

"Sorry for asking but why did your Mum do it?"

Great, now I'll be the one sharing the news.

"She has pancreatic cancer, she just wanted to get it over and done with before the cancer kills her slowly and painfully."

"Jeez, that sucks Lilah." My eyes go teary thinking about my Mum when she wakes up and realises she has to go through all this. Josie hugs me again and tells me to sit down.

"Do you need anything?" She asks. "Coffee, water, some snacks?" I shake my head but she laughs.

"My Lilah will not turn down some M&Ms though." She says. "I saw they had a big bag of them in their vending machines here." I couldn't help but smile. M&Ms are my favourite and she's right, I couldn't resist them.

She smiles back and heads out to go get them. I love my best friend.

I grab my phone and decide to text Adam.

'Sorry about the way I was acting earlier. I heard you're stopping by after footy. It means a lot especially since I don't deserve it after what I did. Love you x'

I put my phone down just as Flynn, the nurse walks in.

"Hi there, sorry I didn't get your name before."
