"Auntie Faye!" Ana waved at her aunt who is now being ushered to her seat at their parents' table.

"Babe, Aunt Faye is coming to this party and I don't want her spoiling the surprise. That's why I was adamant in keeping you away from her a while ago. That was the call at the elevator. The event planner informed me that she was at the lobby." Ryan whispered to Ana. His hand was caressing her back that was hit by the door.

"Oh my goodness! She's at it again!" Ana laughed and coiled one arm on Ryan's waist. "That's why everybody's been acting weird today. Thank you for this surprise, babe!"

"Hey, bro! You have a lifetime to hog Ana. Can we borrow the birthday girl for a while, man?" John came towards them and fist bumped with Ryan. Bambie and Elyn followed, and the girls shrieked like they haven't seen each other for so long.

Ryan let go of Ana and allowed her to mingle with the rest of the guests, while he also went to entertain the others. The function hall was filled with indistinct sound of conversations and laughters. It was like an assemblage of old friends catching up with each other. No guest stayed in one particular table after Ana arrived. Everybody was mingling with everybody.

Dinner was served at quarter past six. Ana was seated with her parents on her left and Ryan on her right and his parents on his other side.

"Are we gonna talk about the wedding now?" Aunt Faye blurted out.

"Faye!" Antonia basted her older sister. "Don't ruin the surprise!"

"What surprise?" Ana butted in wide-eyed. "Are there any more surprises coming, babe?" She turned to Ryan. "Coz you're giving me a heart attack." Ryan just smiled at her and rubbed the small of her back.

"Ana, darling, I don't want to hear you calling me Tita anymore." Amanda caught everyone's attention.

"Yes, Ti-... I mean, Mom."

"Finally! I'm gonna have a daughter!" Amanda clapped her hands with the look of excitement in her eyes. Then she whispered to another aunt, "And soon I'll be having granddaughters of my own!"

"Oh my God, babe. Does everybody know about the engagement?" Ana leaned on closer to Ryan.

"Baby, your engagement ring is a family heirloom from my maternal side. Mom gave it to me when she visited here last time. She knew I was about to ask for it." Ryan turned to face her. "Aside from our parents, who would not take notice of that on your fingers?"

"Aside from our parents, who would not take notice of that on your fingers?"

Ana looked at the ring. "Babe, you are such one big hell of a timelined person. You have laid out everything... in a blueprint!"

"And I don't build when everything's not sure, baby." He kissed the tip of her nose.

Then they were startled with the shrilling sound of the microphone. The gay host was making his way to the platform in front.
