3RD PERSON POV
It has been ten years since (Y/n) was locked away in the castle. The King and Queen were still a little bit worried about their daughter since she tried so many attempts to escape from the castle but she ended up getting caught a few times. (Y/n) only wished for one thing and that was freedom. (Y/n) wasn't your ordinary princess like Zelda, she was braver, a strong fighter and she was a girl with many talents. Everday, when (Y/n) was alone in her room she would stare out of her window, hoping for the chance that one day she can finally escape from her prison.
Despite being locked away behind the castle walls, (Y/n) always did find some ways to amuse herself like being artistic, playing the piano, violin and singing as well. Right now, (Y/n) was in her room and she was painting a black Frisian standing in a meadow with the wind blowing against his long mane and tail.
READER'S POV
I smiled at my masterpiece and I said to myself.
"Another painting done."
I set aside my canvas and I then sighed a little. I then heard the birds chirping happily outside of my window. I smiled at them and I then opened my window and I watched as how one of their babies started to fly for the first time. I looked at the other one but it didn't look like it wanted to leave the nest. I smiled at it and I picked it up.
"Hey don't be scared, we got to leave the nest at some point and no one wants to be cooped up here for the rest of their lives, go on you can do it, just flap your little wings and think happy thoughts."
The bird nodded its head and it flapped its wings and it started to hover a little. I smiled at it and I said to it.
"That's it, you got it!"
"*Chirp! chrip chrip!!* (I did it!! thank you miss!! bye!)"
The baby bird said to me before it flew away with its family. I lost my smile as I rested my folded arms on my window sill. The townsfolk were having a festival that happens once a year and I haven't been to one of them since I was five.
'It's the festival again this year, everyone will be down there having fun, meanwhile, I'm stuck here behind the castle walls.'
I sighed sadly and then Sapphire, a small blue dragon and my only friend, sat on my lap and she said to me.
"Hey don't look so sad, why don't you ask your Mom to let you go the festival, it only happens once a year."
I looked at Sapphire surprised and I then shook my head for a no and I said to her.
"No happening besides, it's bad enough getting lectured by dad but not only that, I have to keep you hidden from them."
"So what? just sneak out when they're not in the castle that way you won't get caught."
Sapphire was right, I could try that if my Mom says no. Just then there was a knock on my door. Sapphire whispered to me.
"Uh oh, gotta hide!"
Sapphire hid underneath my bed and I put away my apron and my paints before answering the door. I answered it and it was my Mom.
"Hi Mom."
"Hello sweetie, I see you've been busy again with your artwork."
Mom said as she looked at some of y new paintings. I fiddled with my fingers and I thought to myself.
'I wonder if I should ask her...no I doubt that she will let me go and knowing my dad he will have a fit since I tried to escape one too many times before.'
