Home-less

Watery strokes of yellow light
guide me through the rain
as I'm leaving a home for those
who have forgotten their pain.

As festive colours adorn their walls
it does not seem to enter
their fragile minds where simple joys
seem to form the centre.

As reality hits their heavy hearts
a simple smile, a little shy
breaks the moments
of their silent cry.

As they were before
they'll be once more
with dignity and pride,
for beaten they seem
lost in a dream
yet valiantly they fight.
