Escape? I never thought of that. I was sick to my stomach.
Escape.
Escape.
Escape.
The word rang in my head like a bell. How could I help a man escape from prison?
"I'm sorry. Excuse me? Escape?" I asked. I know I sounded rude but I was so confused and shocked that I didn't know what else to say.
I quickly turned around behind me to make sure that Katherine wasn't listening to our conversation. Thankfully, she was talking to the police. I over heard that they were talking about me. I didn't warm to hear, so I turned back to Aaron.
"Yes Lacie. I didn't mean to catch you off guard, but your the first person to ever trust my story that I'm innocent. I've been waiting for a person like you to come along." The way he spoke was so fluent.
"What do you mean?"
"With your mathematical mind, and my strength, we could do it."
I believed him. I trusted him. But I just met him.
I just didn't know what to follow.
My mind---
Or my heart
I decided to go with my heart. It was pounding every time he looked at me.
My face turned red because he could probably hear my heartbeat.

"I'll do it" I smiled, and so did he. He nodded his head in thanks.
Katherine came over and told me it was time to head out.
"Bye Aaron, see you tomorrow!" I said with a smile.
"Goodbye Lacie. It was a please meeting you"
He smile back, and a small laugh came out of me.
"What were you and the officer talking about?" I asked Katherine. I was worried that it wasn't good.
"About how you and Aaron are getting along very well. You too seem like quite the friends now... I'm glad. Just make sure you aren't giving out personal information because these men are dangerous."
My nostrils flared.
How dare she say that Aaron was dangerous. He wasn't even meant to be in this prison.
I wanted to punch her. But I didn't.
I stayed quiet and gently nodded my head a few times to make sure that she knew I understood.
I felt a tap on my left shoulder and spun my head around. A girl with dark brown hair and blonde highlights stood in front on me. I couldn't help but notice that her eyes were a very dark brown colored.
"Hi... I'm Grace Grogson."
"Um... Hi I'm-"
"Oh I already know who you are. I'm not a stalker, but I am cousins with Aaron and he said you were a very nice girl."
She was Aaron's cousin. Wow.
"Nice to meet you Grace." I replied.
"You too Lacie. I was hoping we could get to know each other and sit down a talk"
Katherine nodded and walked away.
"Hey," she spoke gently... "I need to warn you about something."
"What is it?" I asked with a great curiosity.
"Aaron is lying to you. He isn't innocent."
And with that, Grace walked away leaving me standing there with my mouth wide open.
