"Excuse me! coming through!" I maneuver my through the somewhat crowded Human Resources department. With the documents Mr Hawk instructed I hand over to the head of department.
With a knock I walk into the office dropping the files on the table in front of me while trying to scan the room for Mr Malcolm, the Manager of Human Resources department.
"Annalise, to what do I owe this visit" Mr Malcolm walks into the office
"Well, I'm sorry to bother you but Mr Hawk needs you to reach out to these persons for an interview ASAP, they're from the new company partnering with us..." he stares at me
"Anders Inc...?" I say moving my hands in a circular motion to get him to remember.
"Oh yes! I'll give you feedback before the end of today" he takes a look at the files
"Great, have a nice day" I chime before heading back to my office.
I hear my phone ring so I rush to get it out of my bag
"April"
I answer the call
"Hey best friend, been a minute" I say while typing away on my laptop
"Yes, I'm sorry I didn't call to tell you how my interview at the art studio went-" she says before I cut her off
"Oh yeah!, how'd it go?"
"It went well, I got the Job as the manager, Mr Lance believes I'll do a great job and you know the best part? I did it without my dad's help or influence" she replies happily
April has been my best friend since my first day at college when I got lost. She's 24, two years older than me. An only child, her mum died when she was born so it's been just her and her dad.
"Omg! I told you you'd get it, so when are you coming back to LA?"
"Um well, I'm not sure yet, I need to make sure everything's settled, I still need a place to stay, and everything so I won't be back until then" she replies
"Oh.." I get sad at the thought of her absence on Lily's upcoming birthday
"I know what you're thinking I'll try not to miss Lily's birthday." She says almost as if she was reading my thoughts and I smile
"Better" I tell her still typing away
"Ah-hem" i get startled and my phone drops, I look up to see Keith Anders and I knot my brows in confusion
"I'm sorry I startled you, in my defense I knocked a couple of times but you didn't reply" he raises his hands in the air and I laugh
"Oh, I'm sorry I was um..distracted" I reply referring to my call with April
Speaking about that
"Please excuse me for a minute sir, I'm just gonna get this" I retrieve my phone from the floor only to see the call hadn't ended
April heard everything
I quickly end the call making a mental note to call her later.
