HER
"Hi, sugar." Tommy, my best friend, said. "How are you doing?"
Tommy was around 24 with bright blonde hair, blue eyes and a smile that would make any woman fall in lust.
But I was made of tougher stuff and just thought he was like a cute, little brother.
Saying nothing, I shrugged my shoulders. I didn't want to talk about what happened this morning, I was still a bit raw from it.
"Ahh, the Winter princess is back I see." He threw a piece of bacon in his mouth and moaned. "Wow. That's a mighty good bit of bacon."
I rolled my eyes, but said nothing.
"Liz, orders up to table 32." Tiana called.
Tiana had curly red hair and the most amazing, bright blue eyes. She was sweet like sugar but watch your back if you get on her wrong side.
I grabbed the tray she held and took it to the table. There were a small group of 6 people, I couldn't see a face of even one. They were all wearing some sort of a mask, well except for one.
He was wearing a cap with his head down. He seemed to be a bit older then me, around 28, if I had to guess.
I put down the tray and waited. Five of them stuffed their mouths with the food, all but the cap wearer.
"What... are you waiting for a tip?" A girl with a red and black mask sneered.
I narrowed my eyes at the girl. That rude, little git. I said coldly, "Stuff that food in your tiny ass mouth before shove it where the sun doesn't shine. Got it?"
The girl's body froze before she looked down a paid laser focus on her food. I heard a deep laugh and looked over at the cap wearer.
He was still looking down as he said, "I wish I could say I was sorry for what she said, but this has been the most amusing thing I have seen all week."
"It's only Tuesday, sir. And what do you mean by amusing?" I fisted my hips.
I saw his smile when he tipped his head towards me, it was devilish and dark in a way that was hypnotic.
"Because you're cute and small, thin, waif-like. But surprisingly feisty, I find that amusing, little faerie."
I silently fumed. I am not short. I'm 5'7, for fire-truck sakes. "I hope you all have a nice day, good by-" he grabbed my wrist when I went to walk away.
"What's your name, little faerie?" He asked.
"Will you let me go back to work if I tell you?" I asked, genuinely curious.
"Maybe," he answered
"Liz McCathy." I said.
"Is that short for anything, Lizzie."
"No, and don't call me Lizzie." I told him sternly.
His lips twitched a annoying, little smirk. "Sure thing, Lizzie."
This time when I went to move, he didn't stop me.
I was both glad and saddened.
It annoyed me.
