(Unedited)

We were sitting on the beach, watching the sunset. My heart was beating out of my chest. The sky was on fire, and so were you- I could feel the heat on my skin, the embers soaring out and landing on my heart and my beach towel.
The water, draped in its golden- pink blanket of light, danced, jumped and shifted like laughter. I closed my eyes and leaned back, feeling the tiny grains of sand in my hair. I listened to the wind, the distant cars on a highway to the town that seemed a million light years away. I listened to you laughing like the golden waves on the water. You were like a black hole, but instead of sucking everything in, the entire ever-expanding universe flowed out of you. The pressure of it all weighed down on my chest. I could hardly breathe, but if I would have traded my lungs in an instant for that moment to last for infinity.
When I opened my eyes again, it was dark. All the starlight, the moon and its reflection, the entire milky way- it was all shimmering out of your eyes. You smiled at me, setting off a supernova in my chest, and started towards the water.
