"Emma!" Screamed Nicole as she was being taken away. I couldn't move. I couldn't scream. I just watched as Nicole, my precious sister was being taken away from me. Ripped from my arms and then pushed to the ground. She was screaming my name. Over and over again. I watched as the venom eyed boy stabbed my sister. Once. Twice. Then three times in the heart. I heard as my sister drowned in her own blood. The smell of iron filled the air.  Hot tears ran down my cheeks until I couldn't see anymore....

I woke up in a cold sweat. This has been happening a lot lately. Same dream. With the same reaction. I'd pull my knees to my chest and cry, then the venom eyed boy would give me an annoyed glare. He was always there and I hated it. He only reminded me more of that dream. Even when I thought I was alone, I really wasn't; sometimes he was outside the door other times he was right next to my bed. I hated this man. I don't care if he is younger than me or older. I hated this thing.

But today... today was different. He gave me a calendar and told me what the date was. I had been here for over two months. Either I was asleep for one month or time just flew out the window, either way it didn't feel like that much time had passed. He stopped carrying me like a child and just told me to follow him and usually whenever the bell rang after a meal and all of us scattered he would always find me. But this time he purposely let me get to my room safely. It didn't feel natural.

And as time passed I ended up gaining one friend. He was the oldest patient here. The practically insane 19 year old. His name was Michael. He was from California and he was here to visit New York for family. But instead of seeing his family all he found was a piece of paper saying he was being sold to Bright and Sunny.

It's a shame really...

He just wanted to see his family.

However, whenever I talked to him, he never seemed to like to talk about his family. While I being mostly extroverted talked about my family a lot, especially Nicole. He honestly looked like he enjoyed talking to me. He smiled more around me and he would even look for me at meals. We talked about many things. How he loved reading and video games. His milk chocolate brown eyes would seem fascinated as I talked about school and how many friends I had. His ash brown hair would sway as he talked.  His thin body became less thin and more heathy as we hung out more together.  Almost as if he was trying to become better for me.  Time flew when I was around him, and before I knew it. It was my birthday. My 18th birthday to be exact.
When I woke up I realized I didn't have a nightmare. I was happy and proud of myself. I completely ignore the venom eyed boy. As I walked to the cafeteria and even though he looked mad as I had a happy smile on my face. I ignored him. I walked up to Michael "Hey Emma!" I looked in his direction. He was looking straight at me and he was waving me over to him. I sat next to him. "Hey Michael." I said in a cheery voice. "Someone is in a good mood. " he said in a teasing voice. "What?! I can't help it! It's my birthday!" My smile widened as I said that. "Wait really! How old are you?" He asked. "I am officially 18!" I did my best to make a heroic face and he chuckled. "Calm down and look at the clock." I looked at the clock as he pointed at it. 1:59 I sighed. It was almost time for the bell to ring. I waved to him and got up right as the bell rang. I bolted out of the room. Making it all the way to my room and then closing the door. But my wide smile fell as I saw the venom eyed boy.  He looked extra annoyed. I ignored him and got into my bed. Not even bothering to look at him. "Ya know it's getting more annoying the more you ignore me." I stand up surprised and scared. His voice was deep and smooth. "I know it's your birthday. Your not very good at keeping your excitement in." His eyes said he was unimpressed but his smile said he was intrigued.  I only listened. I didn't mutter a word or breathe. "By the way. My name is Alec not venom eyed boy." He said.

"How'd you know I called you that!" I said in a surprised tone.  "What? You don't think I know what you and that boy talk about?" He retorted. "His name isn't 'boy' it's Michael. Just leave me alone." I felt tired so I turned away and got into bed. My back was to 'Alec'  but I could still feel his eyes watching my back. Then I heard the door close and he left without another word.
