JADE'S POV
'It's been a month since my life tumbled upside down. Quite ritually. A month since I've been been with Andy. A month since I've had a new family. I'll never be able to forget my past - no matter how much I want to. But I'm happier now, and I think Alex, Matty and Mkayla can tell too. There not as jumpy around me anymore. Anyway I've got to go, Jake's calling for me to get some breakfast before CC steals it all'
I put down my diary and tuck it over the pillow so, hopefully, nobody will find it. Throwing my legs over the side of the bunk I manage to put on my slippers and walk out of the bunk alley.
"Sorry but CC already kinda ate your plate of bacon." Jake looks over to a very smug looking Chris - as what I've started calling him - licking his fingers. "It was rather nice as well. You would've enjoyed it." I just chuckle and run over to where the TV is, snatch the remote off Ashley and start to channel flick. After switching on Tom and Jerry I stuff the remote up my top, knowing that if I don't, he would of probably attempted to get the remote back off me. But I see that it doesn’t matter because he actually starts to watch it with me. Of course, it wasn't going to last. The tree who I happen to love called Andy stands in front of it giving us death glares. I take it somebody doesn't appreciate the greatness of Tom and Jerry. Evil person.
"Who has the remote?" His deep voice asks.
"I don't know where it is. Ashley, do you know where it was put?" I ask, making sure to give him a very suttle wink so he knows to play along. Now this is gonna be funny. I wait until he's shuck his head before turning my attention back to Andy. "Then I guess you'll have to watch this. Unless that is, you can some how find the remote." Andy then moves around the room moving stuff to try and find it. That just set me and Ashley into a laughing fit. "Okay who's got it?"
"I already told you baby, I don't know." I manage to say but then Ashley decides to drop me in it.
"It's down Jade's top!"
"You fucking grass." I'm just about to make a B-line for the bunk alley when five heavy guys jump on me and start to tickle the hell out of me. My grip around my chest tightens and that's when I'm no longer being tickled and only Andy's weight is now on me. He wraps his arms around my waist and he leans in to kiss me. I wrap my arms around his neck and I'm about to kiss him back. SHIT! THIS IS WHAT HE WANTED! MY ARMS AWAY FROM AROUND THE REMOTE! But unfortunately I realize a moment to late and his hand shoots up my top and pulls out the remote, jumping off me while he did it. After turning on Batman, he shuves the remote down the front of Ashley's pants. "Look dude, whatever you do - under no circumstances- don't let her have the remote."
"Ashley," I make sure to use my most girly voice and bat my eyelashes, "Pretty please with a cherry on top, can I have the remote? PLEASE?!?"
"Sorry Jade, I wish I could but I have my orders." He gives me a huge cheesy grin as if to say: HAHA! IN YOUR FACE! Obviously they underestimate me. Being careful not to make anyone suspicious before I did it, I quickly go down the front of Ashley's pants and grasp the remote. I hold it up in the air scream, "I AM VICTORIOUS!"
This obviously got one of the most priceless looks I have ever seen to creep on Andy's face. This caused Chris to chip in, "Andy, jealousy is not an attractive flaue." Andy closes his mouth and sits back in a sulk.
"Andy, is your going to sulk then I'm not going to kiss you for the rest of the day."
He looks at me with shocked wide eyes. " WHAT! BUT THAT ISN'T FAIR, YOU WENT DOWN ASHLEY'S PANTS!"
"One, you put the remote there. Two, you teased me."
"When did I tease you, baby?"
"Don't call me baby when I'm trying to be mad at you. You know full well when you teased me." I look to him and see that he's on his knees at my feet with puppy dog eyes. Damn him for being so God damn cute. "Why do you have to be so cute?" I mumble to myself and he gives me the biggest grin possible.
"Does that mean that you'll kiss me now?"
"That all depends" I toss the remote to Alex and she turns on How To Train Your Dragon and turn my attention back to Andy. This time, are you going to tease me?"
"Nope." He replies, popping on the 'P'
"Come here then." He gets up and walks the two steps to the sofa, when he sits down I jump up on his lap and gently kiss his warm lips. Sparks ritrually shoot through my stomach. I pull away and lay my head on his firm chest, his arm curving around the bottom of my back. But of course, Ashley has to go and ruin the moment by saying on of the most inappropriate thing that he could say at this moment in time. "Have you slept together yet?"
"ASHLEY!" Alex yells at him and smacks him around the back of the head. "SHE'S NOT EVEN LEGAL UNTIL TOMORROW!"
I feel Andy look down at me. "Why didn't you tell us that it's your birthday tomorrow?"
"Didn't think it really mattered. My family, for a couple of years, never really cared about my birthday so I just eventually stopped caring too. I never cared about much. Not after... after....never mind."
Andy's arms tighten and he kisses me on the head. "After what sweetie?" I just break down and run into the bunk alley. Matty jumps off her bunk and Mkayla drops her tooth brush in the sink and legs it over.
"Oh my gosh babes, what's wrong?" Matty questions while Mkayla strokes my hair and rocks me side to side. "My mum. Can I have some privacy please?" After I'm left alone I just sit there and continue to cry until I feel empty can my eyes start to hurt. I sit here like tis for hours. Just sat here with my back and head against the door.
I only realize how late it's getting when the sky turns a burnt orange outside. There was a knock on the door. "Jade?" The voice belonged to Jake. "Jade, I know you can hear me, and I bet your even on the other end of the door with your back leading against it. Look, Alex told us what happened and I know it's hard. I lost my mum not to long back and I know how much it hurts. Please let me in. I bought pizza."
I unlock the door and move forward a little so he can get thorough. When he's in, I close it again and he sits down inferring of me and he sets the pizza down in the middle of us. We eat the pizza in silence and when we're finished, he starts to talk. "How did she die?"
"Cancer."
"Is that when your dad went all...you know?" I just simply nodded. "What did he do to you?"
My heart pounded as memories flood my mind. Beatings. Locked in my room. Thrown around like a rag doll. Starved. Thrown down the stairs. My breathing became rapid and my hearing became cloudy. I could see his lips moving but I couldn't hear what he said. I keep gasping for breath but non seems to be there and my lungs begin to burn. I see Andy burst in and take my hands. I try to open my eyes but everything turns black.
