Grace smiles broadly at me as she put her umbrella in the bucket that I have specially for that purpose.
"Hello dear. How are you today? I noticed that the cafe was closed yesterday. Are you alright?" She asks as her voice softens in concern.
I smile. This is what I love most about Grace. She's like a grandma that I never had.
"Yeah, I'm fine. I just needed to take a break. Your usual?" I say to Grace as I walk behind the counter.
"You always know just how to make me feel better," Grace says as she walks back to the cozy corner and taking her usual seat.
I turn to the coffee brewer and put some coffee grounds into it. Adding water, I set it to brew. While that's brewing, I get the cookies out of the oven and put two on a plate for Grace. By the time that's done, the brewer beeps, signalling that the coffee is done. I get down Grace's favorite mug and pour some coffee into it, adding two spoonfuls of sugar and lots of milk. Putting a spoon on the plate, I pick it up with the mug and walk back towards the corner.
As I get closer, I hear laughter. I totally forgot that Yoongi was sitting back there watching the rain. As I round the corner, I see Grace talking to Yoongi. I put the plate on the coffee table and hand the mug to Grace.
"Thank you, dear." She says, taking the spoon and stirs her coffee.
"You're welcome, Grace." I say.
I walk away, hearing the bell and going to serve more customers.
*Yoongi's pov*
I was quite startled when I saw someone come around the corner. I looked up to see a woman in her mid-fifties.
"Oh, hello dear." She says, sitting on the couch in front of me.
"Hello," I say. "How are you?"
"I'm doing very well dear. How are you?" She asks.
"I'm okay."
She looks at me with a knowing glint in her eye.
"Is something on your mind? Maybe a woman?" She asks.
My eyes open widely. How did she know? I ask in my mind.
"I know many things," she says. "When I was married, my husband looked at me like that."
For some reason, her statement made me laugh, and soon we were both laughing.
Suddenly, I see Raven appear from around the corner. I watch as she puts a plate on the table in front of Grace and hand a mug to her. They talk for a few minutes, but I'm too focused on Raven than their conversation. The bell rings, and Raven goes to tend to the customers. I watch her leave, my eyes never leaving her. I look back to see Grace looking at me with a knowing smile.
"You like her, don't you?" She asks.
"I do. I like her very much."
"Does she know?"
"Not yet. I'm not sure how to tell her."
"You should tell her. She feels the same for you, you know."
I look at Grace surprised. "She does?"
She nods her head. "I can see it in her eyes. She wants someone, but she's still hurting from the loss of her parents and her boyfriend."
I look at her shocked. "Boyfriend?"
"But that's a story for her to tell. She's the strongest young lady I know, and the things that happened to her happened to her for a reason. I thank God that I got to have the opportunity to know her. I just hope you feel the same as I do."
I look over my shoulder to where Raven is rushing around, tending to customers.
"I do," I say, unable to take my eyes off of her.
