11; Hope in War

Hope.

A glimmer of hope.

A wish.

A remembrance of a wish.

A wish of survival.

A wish of seeing them again.

Seeing your family.

You friends,

Those that aren't already dead.

A whisper of hope when you crawl back alive.

A smile to share before the next bomb goes off.

Then you duck again.

And the hope is gone.

You will die here.

Sure as sure.

Never again to see those you love.

'Good-bye' you think

But then it's quite again

And the hope returns.

This is the worst part of the fight.

The stupid hope.

The hope that keeps you going.

The hope that in the end will kill you.

You look up at a shout.

"Run," they scream.

So run you do.

But run you shouldn't.

Too late now.

There it comes

Your doom

You look it in the eye and know it's over

Hello doom

Hello death

Like a wave you're engulfed

A ripple that rips you apart

Limb from limb

Leg from torso

Arm from neck

Gone is your brain

Gone is your luck

Gone is that hope,

You'd knew would rip you apart

Goodbye you whisper as the dark closes in.

For that hope is all gone,

Never even there.

That hope was a phony,

Only leading you on

Knowing the war would kill you

All along death was just watching,

Letting you play.

But play time is over.

So you smile and wave, as best as you can,

As death comes to grab you.

Just another casualty in this God forsaken war.
