   "So, baby, please hurry,
And make Christmas come early this year."

It had been a year since I surprised Will for Christmas, and this time, he was away. I had already graduated from college and had come to California to be closer to Will; I was working as a Disney princess at Disneyland, my favorite place in all of the Golden State. Will and his family got season passes to come and see me whenever, even though I had to act like I didn't know them. I normally played Wendy, so Peter Pan always recognized them and genuinely enjoyed seeing them. Peter had a crush on me, but when he saw how happy I was with Will, he gave up and was happy for me.
Anyway, I had come to stay with Will's family for the week leading up to Christmas, as well as the week after. I still had to work, but I got to see them a lot. A few days before I got to their house, Will's agent surprised him with a Christmas tour, so I couldn't see him until Christmas Eve. He felt really badly about it, so I acted like I was fine with it, but he knew how sad I was.
"I love you, babe," Will said as we Facetimed each other before I went to work. He was in a beige room, sitting against a bare wall, shielding everything else from view. I was in the dressing room at Disneyland, donning my Wendy Darling garb and preparing to spend the day before Christmas Eve with Peter and a bunch of adorable kids on vacation.
"I love you, too, Will!" I said, making a kissy face. Gosh, I'm cheesy.
Will smiled at me. "I'll see you soon, I promise, babydoll."
   "Can't wait!"
"Ey, Wendy! Wrap it up, we're going out there!" Cinderella was standing over my shoulder, shouting at me in her thick Brooklyn accent (which she masked with a high, sweet voice for her character).
I nodded. "Thanks, Cindy." I turned back to the phone, smiling sadly at Will. "Gotta go. Have fun with your concert!" With that, I hung up the phone, wishing I could reach right through it and bring Will back to me.
Standing up, I walked to the entrance to Disneyland, where Tom (aka Peter Pan) was waiting for me.
"Hey there, Little Darling." Tom had called me that ever since I started working here. Being the shortest out of about fifteen Wendy Darlings, he always liked poking fun at me for my height. Classic Pan.
"My height contributes to my character!"
Tom cocked his head to the side. "How so?"
"Peter Pan never wanted to grow up, and neither did Wendy, but she did anyway. I'm playing Wendy while she was still a girl that didn't want to grow up. And I didn't grow up. So really, I fit my character better than anyone here."
"Even Jack Sparrow?" Tom gestured toward Dave, the guy playing Captain Jack Sparrow, who was downing a flask of rum. He told everyone it was just water in a pirate-y flask (so it would look real for the kids), but we all knew he was drinking; we liked him, though, so we never ratted him out to the Disney people.
Giggling, I took Tom's arm, stepping out the door to where I was no longer myself. I was Wendy.
As soon as we stepped into view of the guests, I heard about twenty little girls screaming Wendy's name, and about fifteen little boys screaming Peter's. We both turned around to see the small children running up to us, their already exhausted parents trailing behind.
"Hello, Princess," I said to the first little girl, a redhead in a Sleeping Beauty costume. "My goodness, Peter, would you look at her? She has the same hair color as my little brother Michael!"
Tom (Peter) smiled at me. "Yeah... except she's cuter than your brother Michael." He shot a cheeky smile at the little girl, who turned shy toward him. I smiled as I interacted with the other little boys and girls, snapping pictures and kissing cheeks. As I told one of the little girls that Tinkerbell had gone back to Pixie Hollow and couldn't be with us, I felt a tap on my shoulder.
"Looking for any new Lost Boys?"
I whipped around at the sound of Will's voice. I wanted to scream and hug him, but then I remembered that I was in character, and at Disney, you have to stay in character.
"Why, sure! There's always room for new Lost Boys!" Peter said, covering for me as I stood there, struggling to stay in character.
"Oh, Peter, I think he's a bit too old to be a Lost Boy," I finally recovered, earning a suppressed smile from both boys. "What's your name, Lost Boy?"
Will smiled at me. "I'm Will. Nice to meet you, Wendy," he said with a wink. He held his phone up to the photographer. "Would you mind?"
The photographer smiled and took Will's phone. Everyone working with me at Disneyland knew Will, so she gave me an encouraging thumbs up as she held the phone up to us. "We're going to get one of Wendy trying to kiss Will, and Peter standing there jealously." The photographer was smiling deviously, obviously proud of herself for doing this for me.
"Oh, if you insist," I said with fake hesitancy. I stood on my tippy toes, kissing Will's cheek as he wrapped his arm around my waist, smiling giddily as Peter crossed his arms, trying to cover his goo-goo eyes at us with a jealous frown.
After the photographer had snapped the picture, Will looked at me. "Thanks, Wendy. See you in Neverland!" With that, he ran off, sending me a cheeky wink as he left.
I spent the rest of the day daydreaming about Will as I signed autographs and snapped pictures for all of the adorable kids at Disneyland. One little girl was dressed just like Wendy, making me feel really good about my job. If only it would hurry up and end so I could see Will.

Three hours later
Due to the upcoming holiday, Disney had shortened my hours, so I left to go home as soon as they let me off. I hugged Tom/Peter goodbye and sped home in my car, running to Will's front door and ringing the bell.
Will opened the door, causing me to jump into his arms, tackling him with a hug.
Will laughed. "I missed you too, babydoll."
"Why didn't you tell me you were coming back early?" I asked before kissing his face repeatedly.
"I wanted to surprise you!" Will said with a "duh" face.
I giggled, sitting on the couch in the living room. "Well, it worked. I missed you so much!"
"Not as much as I missed you, Hannah." Will put his arm around me, and we spent a few hours just holding each other, making up for the time we missed while he was gone.
When we finally decided to do something else, Will and I made hot chocolate and lit a fire in the fireplace, talking about anything that crossed our minds.
"You know what, Hannah?" Will asked, adding more marshmallows to his hot chocolate.
   "What?"
"I don't even need a present this year. You're here with me, and you're all I need."
I stared at him. "You think I'm your gift? Will, you flew back a day early from your tour- your job- just to see me!"
"Maybe this is our tradition now, surprising each other for Christmas."
I smiled to myself, putting my head on his chest. "I'm totally okay with that."
