Pittsburg to Chiraq

Ke'shad's POV

The sound of birds singing crept into my window as I opened my eyes to the first day of summer. I stepped out of bed, took a deep breath, grabbed my phone off the night stand, and scrolled through the notifications on my lock screen.

Kash💉:
Hit me up when you get to Chicago.

I was an hour away from flying to Chicago to spend the summer with my Pops. It had been three years since my mom and dad separated; he thought it would be best if I moved with my mom to keep me out of trouble. I was excited to finally be able to see my family and catch up with my nigga Lamar. I walked down the hallway and let my mom know I was ready and started carrying my bags to the car. Warm wind brushed against my skin as i stepped off the porch. Street lights shined in the distance and the streets were still and quiet, but I had a feeling that once I got to Chicago all of that would change...

The sun shined bright on the highway , as we pulled up to the airport.

"Bye Shad, I love you."

"Bye Ma, I love you too."

Immediately after my mom pulled away from the drop off area , I felt a strange feeling in my stomach , I had a strong feeling that something wasn't right. But there was no time to think about what I felt, so I made my way to the check-in desk.

"Hello welcome to American Airlines, how may I help you?"

"I'm on the next flight to Chicago."

"Alright , your plane boards in three minutes at Gate 4."

I picked up my bags and walked through the metal detector. By the time I made it to the waiting area, it was time for me to board my flight. This was the first time I've been on a plane by myself, and even though I was excited to be going back to Chicago, I couldn't lie, I was nervous as fuck. The plane took off and I looked out of the window. The plane sat on top of the clouds, this is something I've always dreamed of. I shut my eyes and drifted off to sleep.

Lamar's POV

"Aye, thats the nigga from around the block"
"Kill Him" Chino demanded as he pointed in Lamar's direction.

I walked down the block and made a left. Turned around to see a gang of niggas coming my way, I started running fast, turned to the left, then turned to the right. They turned the corner and ran after me. I grabbed the strap from my pocket and started shooting, turned another left and kept running. I lost them. I took a second to thank God for letting me live and proceeded to walk.

POW! POW! POW!

3 shots in my direction.

POW! POW!

I was hit. I fell to my knees and cried in agony.
Blood poured from my chest and I fell into an endless sleep... My eyes shot open as I woke up from a cold dream. Cold sweat dripped from my forehead as I sat up and gripped my heart, proving to myself that I was still alive. I got up, walked into the bathroom, splashed water on my face, and took a deep breath. More proof. This was the fourth time I've had the same fucked up  dream. Part of me tried to put the pieces together to figure out why I kept having this dream. The other half of me knew that deep down inside, the dreams were a result of the guilt that flowed through my veins. I sat on the window and lit a blunt. Acid Rain played softly through the room as the sun rises on a colorful sky. Police sirens screamed on the streets.  Everything was fast paced in Chicago. You could see a nigga one day and they were gone the next. The fear of death ate me alive...I slid down my Instagram looking for something to get into this summer. I was shocked to hear that Shad was coming back to Chicago after what went down before he left, but I was ready to see my brother. Its been two years since he moved to Pittsburg with his mom and the streets have changed a lot since then. Everybody on the streets knew me as Kash. Only Shad knew my real name. Where I'm from you always gotta be careful who you let in and when you let them in you gotta watch your back. The sunrise lit up my bedroom and I poked my chest out and stretched my back. Another cold day in Chicago. As I began to get lost in my thoughts again my phone beeped.

Shad:
We Live Nigga, Im Here !

Jadis's POV

"Jai, wake up" Lailani said as she shook my shoulder.

Lailani was my side piece, she was a down ass chick, and she kept our business between us. She threw her leg over me and sat on my lap, and put her hand on what she thought she had.

"Good morning baby girl."
"buenos dias papi"

She lifted her leg off me, got off the bed and started pulling her thongs over her curves but I grabbed her waist and stopped her.

"Nah, Keep em off"
"I gotta go to work, but when I get off work I'll give it to you " she responded as she laughed and slid her shirt over her head.

I slid to the edge of the bed. I was going to meet my "stepbrother". My mom married Shawn about a year ago. He was a OG in the streets, he was known for doing everything and everybody had respect for him.  Lani walked into my arms and pressed her soft full lips against mine.

"See you later papi"

She walked with so much confidence, swaying her curves with every step she took. I went into the bathroom and brushed my teeth.

"Jadis, breakfast is ready"

I grabbed some basketball shorts off the floor and walked to the dining room.
I looked at the table to see my mom , Shawn and a nigga wit a fade.

"Jadis, this is Ke'shad"
