It was a summer night, and it was storming. The rain pounded on the window as lightning flashed in the distance.

"Are you scared of storms?" Luke asked, looking out the window.

            "No," I replied, "Are you?"

"No, I was just making sure you weren't," he smiled and fixed his beanie. We had a pretty lazy day, so we were both wearing sweatpants and t-shirts. I sighed and sat down on the couch.

"What do you want to do?" I asked. I was really bored.

"I don't know," Luke replied and sat down next to me. I sighed again.

"Do you know how to build a fort?" I giggled because it seemed kind of childish, but I didn't really care.

"Hmmm sure. It can't be that hard," Luke was trying to act cool about it, but I could tell he was holding in his excitement. He's like a little kid trapped inside a giant band member's body. I giggled again.

            "What?!?" he asked laughing.

"Nothing!" I smiled, and he rolled his eyes. We began collecting all of the blankets and pillows we had and piled them up on the floor. Luke brought in two chairs and we draped a blanket across them. We put more pillows and blankets under it.

"Forts were a whole lot cooler when I was a kid," he said and smiled a little. I nodded.

"Oh well," I said, "Hey you know what makes everything better?"

            "What," Luke asks.

"Music and ice cream," I smiled really big. Luke laughed.

"Okay, sounds good. I'll get ice cream," he walked off toward the kitchen, and I put on some acoustic music. It seemed like a good time for it. Luke came back with the ice cream and we lay down in the fort with it.

"Feed me ice cream, slave!" I said, laughing.

"Really?" Luke asked raising his eyebrows.

"No, I was kidding," I said and grabbed a spoon.

"Oh, okay," he laughed and got a spoon for himself. We ate ice cream together and listened to the music. Lightning flashed and lit up the room, then the power went out.

            "Ugghhhh," I groaned.

"It's dark now," Luke pointed out.

"Yeah obviously," I sighed and stopped eating the ice cream, "I'm cold."

"Awe, here," Luke pulled a blanket up over both of us.

"Thanks," I lay down and moved closer to him. He put his arm around me and kissed the top of my head.

            "I love you," Luke said.

"I love you too," I said back. We lay close together until I eventually fell asleep in his arms.
