Hello everyone!! I'd like to welcome everyone to my first werewolf book and I hope it isn't too cringe-worthy or typical.

Before I start I'd like to go over some basic guidelines regarding the werewolf world that is featured in this book. We all know that there are many different components that make up this fictional world, and so for reader ease, I will explain all that pertains to this book in this "chapter".

Packs & Global Hierarchy

The United States has 10 packs across the country, the main story being located near the Moonstone Forest Pack (red) and more specifically Oregon

The United States has 10 packs across the country, the main story being located near the Moonstone Forest Pack (red) and more specifically Oregon. In between packs is a 25-mile area called "no-mans land", this is an area in which any wolf is free to travel and is a common spot for rogue villages (depicted on the map as the thick black line). This was put in place so wolves, rogue or not, could travel easily between packs and promote pack unity.

All the packs in the world are ruled by an Alpha King and Luna Queen, who reside in Northern Canada. They have a Sir Beta and Madam Beta, who assist them in ruling the werewolf world. The King has sons (either biological or royal subjects) who oversee a specific region(s) and report back things of importance. These regions are designated as North America, South America, Central America and the Caribbean, Africa, Asia, Oceania, Eastern Europe, Western Europe, and the Middle East.

In the werewolf world, the hierarchy is as follows: Alpha King and Luna Queen, Alpha Prince's of delegated Regions, Sir Beta and Madam Beta, Alpha's and Luna's of individual packs, and finally healers.

Now while all packs may slightly differ in structure here is the standard hierarchy: Alpha and Luna, Healer (if there is one in the pack), Beta and Beta Female, Elders, Delta and Delta Female, Gamma and Gamma Female, Doctors, Warriors and Enforcers, Fighters and Scouts, Trackers, Regular Wolves, and Omegas.

You may have noticed above but an Alpha and Luna are EQUAL, there is no form of submitting within that relationship. They are both in charge of different pack functions and are both essential to keeping the pack running smoothly.

You will be introduced to certain characters in power positions listed above, but not nearly all of them. If things get too confusing, or it is requested, I will make a chapter dictating who is who, in what position their in, and what that position means.

Rogues

Rogue's are werewolves without a pack and who live in no-mans land or travel the world. In most stories that I've seen on Wattpad rogues are always bad, unwanted and hated by all packs. That is NOT the case in this story. Rogues aren't automatically bad people or rebels who want to overthrow the werewolf world. Sometimes they are simply people who prefer a different way of life. Within the rogue community, there is an obvious link to generations being born into the lifestyle rather than simply leaving packs. While there are bad rogues, they will have a brand on them from the Moon Goddess. With all of that in mind, it is also apparent to note that rogues do not have a disgusting smell, the way they are differentiated between other wolves in the absences of a pack smell. Imagine it this way, every werewolf has a unique smell and so when they were created by the Moon Goddess all different attributes were given a smell. This included their pack, so when one changes packs the scent changes with them and if one is a rogue they would be missing that scent.

Omegas

Similarly to rogues, omegas tend to get a bad rap around the werewolf community. In this story, omegas are only categorized in that rank due to one's passive and gentle nature. Being sensitive is not a character flaw for these people, and as such, they aren't treated unfairly by the pack or abused in any way.

Mates

Mates, short for soul mates, are gifted unto werewolves from the Moon Goddess. These partners are perfectly made for each other and are together for life. Even though it may not seem like it at first, these two are exactly what the other needs. While there is no typical mate, they tend to be possessive of one another and make a connection instantly. A werewolf can have a human mate. Mates are not always male and female, there are many gay and lesbian mates in this werewolf world. Finally, a person only has one mate in all cases, with multiples they will each have their own mates.

Rejection

Rejection is a real thing, but not common. The process requires the written blessing of an Alpha Prince as it is a grave offense to disregard the Moon Goddess gift. Being rejected does not kill either party but is extremely painful for both. A werewolf has a very slim chance of having children with someone that is not their mate even after a rejection, the only way this does not apply is if their mate is dead.

Pregnancy

Werewolf pregnancies are different from that of normal humans. While a typical human pregnancy is 9 months (40 weeks) in a werewolf it is shorted to 6 months (24 weeks), and when an Alpha is involved is it shortened to 5 months (20 weeks). If a werewolf and a human mate and create a pup, the pup will always be a werewolf as that is the dominant gene. In the issue of male pregnancy, I have read quite a few books with this involved and have enjoyed all of them. I hope to be able to incorporate this into my book but could definitely use some guidance. I hope to be able to get all the proper information on that topic before I write on it. Abortion is a real thing, in real life and possibly in this book. It is possible to abort a werewolf pregnancy when done by a werewolf doctor. There are circumstances in which a pup could be miscarried, those would be typical of that of a human.

Healing/Silver/Life Span

Werewolves heal at a very fast rate and rarely get sick from common causes that would ail a human. They are not immune to things that can kill humans (i.e., car crashes, bullet wounds, drowning, cancer, suicide, etc.). Silver will not automatically kill werewolves. Being injured with a silver object or being injected with it will slow down the process, but it should not always be considered lethal. In some forms, silver can disconnect the human from the wolf. On that note, werewolves are NOT immortal. They do, however, age at a much slower rate after they turn 18. Specifically, aging 1 year to every 5 human years, making their average lifespan 190.

Shifting

Werewolves can shift whenever they want and are not restricted to the full moon. The average werewolf shifts when they are 5. I understand this is not typical, and the age usually falls around 16. However, in my opinion, it is more likely they would shift younger as children's bones are more flexible and this allows for a more seamless transition into the life of a werewolf.

Colors

The color of a wolf's coat does not matter. I know that "white wolves" have special powers in many werewolf books, but in this story, they are just like any other werewolf. In general, a werewolf's coat with match the with natural hair color of its human form.

Mindlinking

A werewolf can mindlink anyone within their pack, but only if the other person allows. An Alpha, Luna, Beta and Beta Female can break down a pack members walls but when this is only done in urgent matters. Those 4 individuals are also the only ones who can mindlink someone without being in the same pack as them in wolf form. A mate cannot break down his or her mate's mind barriers regardless of position. When marked, humans can only mindlink their mates.

Humans

While unlikely in the real world, within the books setting werewolves and humans co-exist peacefully. As mentioned previously, humans can be mates with werewolves. Being mated to a werewolf does not turn a human into a werewolf. Once mating with a werewolf, a human adapts certain qualities such as faster healing, prolonged life, higher immunity, and ability to mind link their mate.

I hope that answers any and all questions you might have!! If you need to know anything else or have questions please don't hesitate to ask!!
